Unhappy not able to get in daily protein, not loosing any weight

Hello everyone , I am new to this site. I am 21 days post op gastric bypass, and I too am having trouble getting in all the protein that I need. If I just sipped on water all day long, I would be a happy camper. I have no desire to put anything in my stomach.I am currently on soft foods. I find it almost impossible to eat anything. It seems to be somewhat of a common problem I guess. Any suggestions? Also I am very frustrated that since my surgery I have lost very little weight. I am at a complete standstill right now. It has been a week since I lost any weight. Has anyone else experienced that? Any info would be much appreciated, Thanks!

Tammy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the loser's bench.
You are having a common problem post ops have.
Even if you have no desire to eat, you need to sip, sip, sip and get your water in, to prevent dehydration, especially. Dehydration in itself can cause you to lose your appetite, and stop your from losing weight.
If you do not get in what you need, your body is going to react by trying to protect itself, and hoard everything you have.
Exercise within the limits your surgeon has instructed you to, and keep on sipping.
Things will get better with time, so hang in there.
((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

Hi tammy welcome to the boards!
YOUR off to a great start!!!!
TRY your best to relax and not scale watch.
We all looser at different rates but he weight
over time will come off. YOUR at the first point
that MOST people stall/plataue its just your
body catching up and adjusting to the major
changes it has undergone. AS far as eating i am
saddened to hear at the soft food stage your
having trouble. I am sure you have informed
the surgeon of this??? JUST take it slo, chew chew
chew pause between bites....
it takes time to adjust to your new stomach at these
early days of your surgery. I strongly recommend that
you also take your measurements cause when your not
looseing lbs on the scale you are looseing the visual inches.

SO again its normal between week 3 and 5 for a little stall ..
just keep doing what you have to. IF you cant get your protein
in via regular soft foods i would suggest finding a protein drink
to boost it up or other protein loaded product...There are many
on the market and usually everyone can find what that fits
there taste needs.
JUSt a reminder i hope your getting in your vitamins and any other
supplements that your surgeon recommends!I look forward
to getting to know you thru your posts!
hugs

Comgrats on your surgery and begining your journey. This is just one of many humps to get over. Early out I had some issues getting in enough protein as well. One thing that saved me is the stallone puddings they sell at GNC. Very tasty and full of protein. I would open a can and just eat a little at a time until it was gone, couldnt get the whole can at once. I am not a big protein drink drinker, dont really like them so this pudding saved me. Good luck and hang in there.

Smile Thanks for all the advice, another question

Thank you sooo much for all the welcomes to the forum and all the helpful advice. I feel better now that I know this is normal. I thought I was doing something wrong!!! I did have one other question, Did anyone develop a stabbing pain in thr left sign near the drain site? Most of the time I can't bend over or sit upright for very long. My doc says this is common, that some people experience it and some don't. I think I would be back to work by now If I wasn't having this pain.

Have a good day everyone!

Hey Tammy, Welcome! I am originally from Harrisburg, though I live in Iowa now. Nice to see some one from back home! I am pre-op so I cannot help you out, I hope to be on the losing side soon.

Hey. nice to hear from a former pennsylvanian! You said you were pre-op, do you have your surgery scheduled yet? By the time you are post-op, I may be able to help you! I am still new to all this. It certainly is a challange, but the outcome is the driving force. Please keep me updated on your upcoming surgery. If you have any questions , please feel free to ask. I will try to answer! Have a good day!

Nope not scheduled yet. I am in the process of reducing my A1C level. I need to get it down to 7.0 before they will do the surgery. My last test was 7.5. As soon as I am down it will probably be two weeks after that.

hi TERRY....
FOR your own safety its required.
I am under the impression during pre op testing
there can be a test that will determine if you do
or do not smoke. I sure would hate for you to loose
your surgery just days before.
PLEASe take your surgeons instructions strongly if
he has required you to be not smokeing to do your best
to not be. I have heard many say smoke free 3 months
before surgery but of course they all have different
rules.
GOOD LUCK i know thats another difficult demon!!!
