Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

From what I have read and been told by my surgical team is yes you will have a drainage tube; whether you go home with it or not is up to your surgeon. Everyone has the catheter, but it will come out before you go home.

i had no drain tubes at any point while awake from my surgery.
ITS all up to the surgeon.
I had all my LAP incisions held closed with
surgical tape which totally amazed me!
SO i imagine best way to resolve this is
ask your surgeon if he uses drain tubes
or not!
good luck

Hi there. A catheter is a drainage tube placed into your bladder during surgery. It is placed after they put you under anesthesia and it is usually removed the morning after surgery...

The other drain they are talking about is something called a Jackson Pratt drain placed into the area of surgery to drain blood and fluids ..This is done as a precaution by most not all surgeons to prevent pooling of fluids. Ask you surgeon if he uses this and if he sends you home with one. I had one with my WLS and two with my TT. Not a big deal more annoying then anything. Comming out it feels funny.....

Small prices to pay for a new healthy you.

Hope that helps a little.

Good luck

Default Jackson Pratt Tube

The JP drainage tube was the only painful part of my surgery. Unlike Lisa though I didn't feel it coming out at all. Others say it feels like a snake coming out of your body, not at all painful, just weird. That frickety frackety tube though caused me much pain and consternation while hospitalized. It caused a lot of referred pain in my shoulder. At no point or time though have any of my incisions hurt. Yesterday while at the store I did a small bend over and the hem of my pants bit into my stomach and it hurt, but it didn't hurt the incisions. I came home from the hospital completely pain free. I've read stories here where folks sleep upright in their chairs when they come home, or that they are afraid to go to sleep on their tummies. After my JP tube came out I was alllllllllllllllll about sleeping on my tummy. No pain - not even a little bit. HTH!!

I too had a dranage tube and lived with the darn thing for a week.
It would catch me from time to time and it did make it hard to sleep, and there were a few nights I slept on the sofa or in my chair. Once it come out though things were OK. It did feel funny but it did not hurt coming out. It is funny though that I too had no pain with my insicions.
