Jackson Pratt Tube The JP drainage tube was the only painful part of my surgery. Unlike Lisa though I didn't feel it coming out at all. Others say it feels like a snake coming out of your body, not at all painful, just weird. That frickety frackety tube though caused me much pain and consternation while hospitalized. It caused a lot of referred pain in my shoulder. At no point or time though have any of my incisions hurt. Yesterday while at the store I did a small bend over and the hem of my pants bit into my stomach and it hurt, but it didn't hurt the incisions. I came home from the hospital completely pain free. I've read stories here where folks sleep upright in their chairs when they come home, or that they are afraid to go to sleep on their tummies. After my JP tube came out I was alllllllllllllllll about sleeping on my tummy. No pain - not even a little bit. HTH!!
