| How did you feel the first time you cleaned out your closet?
Ok, I know I should be dancing, singing and plain old acting stupid. After all, I have nothing that fits anymore.
I've tossed a few things on the closet floor in the past few weeks but tonight I really cleaned it out!
I am thrilled they don't fit me but why do I feel like I'm throwing my best friends away?????

I can't say I felt bad, more like it was a new adventure. It felt like I was being reborn so to speak. Right now, I always have a box of things ready to go to goodwill and as soon as something gets too big, away it goes. It is so nice to see new clothes in my closet instead of the things I had worn for years. I do have some things from goodwill, and the rest I try to get on sale.

To continue your analogy...you might be "throwing away your best friends", but are also making room for ever better friends!
I go to Goodwill when they have sales and got tons of pants for between 99 cents and $3 each.

I have that old feeling that "oh, I just loved this shirt (etc) and I better keep it in case I gain weight back" I am not letting myself do that this time - I am donating and getting the stuff out of the house - bless others and in turn bless myself. It seems that all of the sudden things are just hanging on me. For awhile I could wear them looking a little big but not now - have fun with finding your new "friends".

It's probably a kind of mourning, kind of like after surgery when you are trying to get used to the new things you will be eating and mouring that you will be giving up what had been your best friend "comfort food". Also, it could be that you are afraid that you might gain the weight back, maybe a little bit of an empty nest kind of thing going on.
Be gentle on yourself, this is a big step. The "new friends" will over whelm your "comfort clothes", you'll feel much better and feel more able to do the spring cleaning thing. Just remember to keep at least one pair of the "old friends" to compare to the NEW YOU!!

Both happy and sad. Happy that I can now wear smaller clothes but sad to say goodbye to old friends, but these were friends from my former sad life so it was good things to get rid of.. lol

As I continue to clean out my closet, it is nice to know there is not a chance I will I ever be going back to those old clothes again. I love that I am now filling my closet with belts and fitted clothes. It is such a great feeling to get rid of the bulk! This year's spring cleaning has a whole new meaning for me!

Make it great! Just think about how hard you worked for the surgery and the happiness you feel when you try on and purchase those new clothes that fit you! I can't wait for that feeling. I will give my clothes to family members that can use them and if they don't want them I'll donate them to Goodwill.

How do I feel? I clear all of the old pants out to donation, and I still got ALL of this other sets of junk left. Not to mention I still have no jacket that's actually remotely fitting...
