is it strange for me to write letters to those who i love and give them to a friend and ask her to give them to the proper people if i die from complecations from this surgery? I know the risk with my particular dr. is low - over 3000 surgeries and no deaths - but there still is a possibility. I try not to dwell on it but i had one of those sleepless nights last night where i had to do something, so i wrote these letters. I don't want to check out of this world without at least one last good bye. Please tell me this isn't too strange? i'm not sure if i should rip these letters up and try to forget the possibility that i could die or give them to a friend to give if anything goes wrong. Don't get me wrong-I am dedicated to this surgery and have no doubts in my mind that i can do this, well except that strange worry once in a while that i might die. Did anybody else think this way, or write such letters, or do i need a shrinks couch more than everyone thinks??

I have read elsewhere of people writing such letters before their surgery, and I think it's fairly common to do so. I don't think there's a single person in this world who does not think, "What if ?" before any major surgery, not just WLS. I definitely would want one last word One suggestion, if you think your friend might freak out, why not leave the letters in a drawer or something that will be sure to be checked, if needs be. Then, you can decide what to do about them after you come home. Of course, I'm sure you'll come home safe and sound, albeit with a pouch instead of a whole stomach.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | No this is not strange. I did write letters to everyone along with a copy of my will. I did this JUST IN CASE. I left them with my sister sealed. Told her if anything was to happen she is to distribute them. Well, I was lucky enough to be able to shred each and everyone of them. Shelley

Thanks. Helps to know i'm not the only one. i don't want to leave them in a drawer in case they get overlooked. I've already asked my friend if she will do that for me, and she will, then she said she could laugh with me after as i shredded the letters. I've already got a copy of a will written and my brother has power of attorney, just in case.

Okay freebird, I will tell you that yes, you are weird. I would not insult anybody I love by telling them that they are normal, but weird is a good thing. As far as your letter writing being strange, no it is not strange. I have composed those letters in my mind a million times and will probably get a few of them down before Tuesday. In case you all stop hearing from me, they will be hidden in the case with all my burned dvds. Janae |

I also wrote letters to all of my children, my husband, my parents and my brother just in case. I also have done this in the past with other surgeries i have had.

Not strange at all freebird. I did the same thing. Gave my hubby a stack and said make sure to send these if something happens. Luckily, I pulled through and we shredded the letters. But before surgery and since, I have told everyone I love just how much I love them and how much they mean to me. I tell them all the time now too!

Wow, Lisa Marie, you are gorgeous. And it doesn't hurt that you are from one of the greatest cities in the world. I am in Jersey, but I love visiting NYC. How long ago did you have your surgery? Sorry if you have posted this info somewhere else, but I have been busy lately and am trying to catch up. Janae |
