Question Struggling

So, I was a smoker pre-op, and since surgery (17 days ago) I have craved a cigarette but it does not taste good, and it kinda makes me nauseous. Does anyone have any suggestions besides chewing gum?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well I'm not a smoker so I'm no help really but I do know that chewing gum isn't good, I was told I couldn't have gum any longer after surgery. So be careful if you have been chewing gum.
Hope you can stop the cravings though!! Good luck!

I quit smoking after 22 years with NO craving with hypnosis. It was amazing.

It is worth a try.

Are we really not able to chew gum even SF gum?? My nut (at least not that I remember) has not said anything about this. What is the reason?

The information I got from my nutritionist said chewing gum is discouraged but if you do chew gum it should be sugar free. I think the reason they discourage it is because if you accidentally swallow the gum it requires a trip to the doc I am guessing

Sooo correct about what happens if you accidentally swallow chewing gum.
It can get stuck in your pouch, and nothing short of endoscopy can get it out.
Best to avoid it.
A sip of water would be better.

I also found when I chew gum I tend to take in more air and get burpy. I will tell you the cravings do get better, but it ain't easy!

My clinic told us that it not just poses a big risk if swallowed but we swallow air when chewing it.. along the same lines as with no straws.

I quit smoking in 1981 - just hang in there. The cravings get less and less and after a while, you don't get them at all. I couldn't chew gum either for various reasons. You can distract yourself from the cravings or just wait it out - it goes away or chewing on a tooth pick. I did that.

I've never met anyone who was sorry they quit - it so improves the way you feel, your energy level and a lot of health things like a better immune system etc. My hubby seeing how I was enjoying life, quit also. (me-May 1981, him Dec 1981).
