Anyone have any issue taking Zyprexa? I have read that there can be wieght gain. I have only been taking them for a week & they help me so much, but i am afraid of the weight gain side affects. Anyone else taking these & have any bad or good experiences?
Thanks my friends!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

my daughter took zyprexa - I didn't see any positive results from the med and she packed on a good 40-50 lbs... granted, she was super thin, but I didn't like where it was going so we weaned her off of it - she dropped most of the weight she gained while on the medication.

I currently take 2 different antidepressants - a tricyclic antidepressant as a migraine preventive and then one for depression - I'm hoping to be able to come off all of my meds after surgery, but will only do that under the direction of my doctors.

My goal is to get rid of the metformin, lisinopril and pravastatin asap! then work on the antidepressants. I'll have to keep my asthma inhaler, though those usually expire before I run out of one - if I use it once a year, that's a lot.... and my epipen is something I expect to have for the rest of my life....

If it's working for you, talk with your dr about it.

Please be aware that mental/emotional issues that require medication will not likely be resolved simply and easily with just WLS and weight loss, unlike blood pressure, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. Your changed digestive system may require some tweaking of the meds as well.
If you go off the meds and become emotionally unstable, that can cause another whole slew of issues, because, quite often, food is an emotional soother (it often stimulates the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain that in turn stimulates the pleasure centers) that you no longer have access to.
