I had gallstones going into surgery with one prior (unknown to me) "attack." The surgeon debated taking out my gallbladder when he was in there but between him and another surgeon, they decided not to.
8 months later I was under the knife again to have the damn thing removed. The surgeon said it was filled with stones and scar tissue (caused by inflammation, or attacks). When I figured out what the attack entailed, it was very painful gas-like pains throughout my right side and up into my shoulder. The first one I was aware of lasted about 2.5 hrs. The second one lasted about 6 hrs (and I had to break into my Percoset stash to get through the pain).
Definitely call your doc and describe the pain you're having. Maybe another scan of the gallbladder might be called for. Good luck and feel better!
