I've read that losing weight releases hormones that were in the fat. Maybe that has something to do with it. If you are worried, please ask your doctor.

Unfortunately with rapid weight loss our hormones go crazy. The fat releases stored estrogen and as you lose weight there is less estrogen being released. The Mirena has progestin only and your ovaries are producing estrogen...simply put..it will take a while for your hormones to settle down. You can contact your OB/GYN and see if they recommend a med to help regulate things now. If the bleeding gets very heavy (soaking pad/tampon every 1/2 hr or so) contact dr immediately. If you are concerned as Carol said, call your drs office.

O.M.Geeeeeee. This is my post for sure. I've always been so regular, you could set a clock by my cycle. Since my surgery? I am petitioning to have my uterus removed from my body because it hates me now. I don't know about you, but it makes my nerves bad having a 10-15 day cycle every 2-3 weeks. I've spoken with both my family doc and my surgeon. The surgeon tells me this is totally normal. I blinked really hard and said...."Well, you fellows could warn a gal this could happen, you know." He told me to get on birth control for approx. six months to help straighten it out. I am forty years old and have no desire to take a drug I haven't taken in almost 9 years. He also told me I could have a hysterrectomy (sp-I never can spell this word) if I so choose. This month has been my best month yet as my cycle actually waited 26 days. I hope and pray it's not 15 days like last time or I may lose my mind! So, yeah, all in all, it's pretty normal. Just another side effect some of us females encounter after surgery. YaY us, right? LOL

My periods have always been very regular too. Since the surgery, they are few and far between. The first was after surgery was a week late, and Im already a few days late this month (there is absolutely no chance of pregnancy). The thing is, my body goes through all the symptoms...sore boobs, bloating, phantom CRAMPS, backache, headache, fatigue and moodiness...and I get no relief. I literally feel this way at least 2 weeks out of the month...but no period. Now, when it my period finally arrives I actually feel ok with it because I know within a couple of days Im going to be relieved of the symptoms.
I havnt asked the doctor because I just assume its because of the surgery and rapid weight loss. The last time I lost a lot of weight fast (32 lbs in 5 weeks on the Atkins diet) I didnt have a period for two months. I guess this is just how my body reacts.

Wacky wacky hormones. Disruption of your cycle either way is seen very often, but make sure you talk to your gyn dr.

I also had some strange cycles and random bleeding after surgery. I spoke to my OB at my annual exam (about 6 months post-op) and she ran hormone tests and such, and everything came back normal.
Lovely hormones, eh?! I hope your body settles down and works itself out!

I had a cycle for 2 weeks after my surgery. It is totally spooky but completely normal! I am 3 months out and I am back to being 'regular' Congratulations on your surgery!!!

I wasn't due to start for a week. I started the day we got home from the hospital. I have been using the Period Tracker App and the one previous was that way too. I know it is hormones and the stress leading up to this. I happened to have my Pap not long ago, GYN was not concerned and said it is not really an issue.
my Surgeon told me at Pre-Op, they'd repair any issues found when they opened me up. I.E. An ovarian cyst, or other not expected issue. Save another surgery and procedure from happening anyway.
I was perfectly fine and nothing was found.
