| Sources of sunlight?
My doc recommended that I use sunlight therapy to help alleviate depression symptoms. I ordered a lamp just for that purpose from Amazon, but they are on back-order. Does anyone know if going to a tanning bed would be just as beneficial! Thanks!

| CS, I wish I could help you on this one but I can't. Are you feeling any better? Are your medications helping any? I sure hope so friend because I know depression is not a fun place to be. Hugs |

I have a daylight-balanced desk light above my iMac at home. It seems to be doing a good job for me. I picked it up on sale at Wally's World for about twenty bucks.
Judi, having lived out there (I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, as well as growing up in the Pacific NW) I can understand why you can't give any advice on finding winter sunshine!! We used to tell the new troops "if you can see Mt. Rainier it's going to rain. If you can't, it is!"

One thing I have to say though is when we do have good weather no where else is as green and beautiful as it is here! |

As a matter of fact, when my mother came out to visit us in upstate SC, she told us that where we lived was even more beautiful (and she hadn't thought it possible!) than the NW.
Me, I think the most beautiful place to live is near the bank my direct deposit goes into!!
Sorry, CS, we sorta got off on a detour, didn't we? Still, it's kinda related to sunshine ... Our weather forecast has it mainly sunny here through the weekend. Not warm, but sunny!

I have heard that tanning beds help that but I am not 100% sure. I hate the winters and it's dark, dreary, depressing and cold here too. I always take my vacation in the winter and head to sunny Florida that really helps me deal with it!
Good luck!

I hope you're able to find a light - I don't know about tanning beds.

Well, you could try Lowes.
Or you could try Home Depot.
You could even try Wal-Mart.
If you really want to put in a few daylight-balanced bulbs to brighten up the place and make you feel more cheerful about life, it's not that hard to slip a new bulb into your existing fixtures, and it doesn't take a whole lot of money.

I'm not totally sure but I think that tanning beds are NOT a good substitute for sunshine when we're talking about SAD or Vit D. I think the beds don't have the right rays for that. Not to mention they are really bad for the skin.
