Default Help!!! Need Protein!!!!

Hello all, it's been a while since i've posted anything. But I'm back and needing some advice. I have been using Body Fortress Whey protein since my surgery. I'm now 2 1/2 months post surgery and my stomach does not like this shake. I have to hold my nose to drink it and when I'm done, my stomach starts cramping and I feel full for hours. I can't even drink water. Can you please give me some names of other shakes that I can try. I'll be honest, I don't really drink it on a daily basis because of the symptoms I get. So now, I'm lacking on my protein intake and I noticed that my hair is starting to fall out. Please help

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm at a loss regarding the shakes, haven't tried any yet, but I did have the Isopure protein drink. It's like a juice. It comes in many flavors and has 40g of protein per bottle. Doesn't taste too bad. Along with other shakes the people here suggest, you can also have that. They sell it at GNC. Good luck.

Are you eating any soft foods. I know for me I am eating just food and only here and there using shakes on bad days. Try to get your protien from food so your body gets used to getting back on track with life. Try yogurt, tuna, chicken, eggs, bean and such.

I like Unjury. You get it on line at unjury.com. I also like Syntrax Nectar Cappucino flavor from mybariatricpantry.com. Both have sample packs you can order to try it out. Hope this helps.

Well, everyone's hair starts falling out somewhere around the 3-month mark anyway. Protein deficiency takes 3-4 months to show up. Which means that if you aren't getting adequate protein now, you'll be seeing some significant muscle loss by spring.

No matter what you use, protein is not optional! Your body needs it and it will find it. If it's not in your digestive system, it'll go looking for something else to use, and muscles are easy to eat. As far out as you are, you should be getting your protein from solid foods now. If you are still that dependent on liquid protein to meet your daily goal, I encourage you to put the energy you're using to try to gag the shake down into learning to eat protein instead.

There are a lot of good suggestions already about sources. If steak is too hard for you, cottage cheese has a few hundred ways to make it interesting. Check the Recipes forum for ideas. There are loads of them there. Also look for ways to eat refried beans and other softer proteins as you work your way gradually up to full solid food sources.

DO NOT short yourself on protein intake. You won't like where it takes you!!

I decided to like Pure Protein drinks, premixed in the can.
Vitamin Shoppe has them ( at the store or online free shipping I think.)
I also like NewWhey tubes (also at Vitamin Shoppe.)
They are a clear flavored liquid I add to my water bottle.

There are some things I could tolerate early out, but not now. So beware... and try new things in small amounts.

I couldn't stand any of the shakes I tried - and I think I tried them all. I found real food to be a much better choice.

Forget about the hair, it's going to fall- my house looks like a giant hair ball. Folks here are correct, you should be graduating from the shake thing. I would suggest maybe a bar if you can't tolerate some of the food suggestions. Questbars (online) have 20g of protein each and are low carb. Congrats on your loss!!

I don't know how everyone else is able to get there protein in with food! I try, but I am still only eating 1/2c at each meal. All I eat is meat or yogurt or cheese. I'm still at half of what I should have every day. I've said this a couple of times, but I get my protein at Starbucks. They have it there to mix with there smoothies, but I get a skinny decaf flavored latte with fat free milk with two scoops of protein steamed with the milk. A venti is in the neighborhood of 35g. It's whey protein, too, which thrilled my nut. Make sure you ask them to steam the protein with the milk, otherwise you end up with a chewy coffee. Not so yummy. Good luck!!
