Cool How do you handle it?

Hi guys!

Looking to get some advice from all you lovely people. For the last couple of months, I have been kinda afraid to try new foods. My dietician and the pshycologist suggested I branch out and try new foods as I should not want to get bored. I did awesome over the holidays but now I have been trying bits of things. I always eat my protein first then veggies or fruit so anything I am trying is in small amounts. I introduced potatoes and rice. I had a smile slice of bread and baked tortillia chips. I loved it! Well everybody here has been sick, except me with stomach bugs and such. About a week and a half ago I started feeling sluggish, my eating even the regular foods made my stomach hurt and then I started having to run to the bathroom. Milk caused the same issue and I went back to lactaid. Still not feeling up to par. Well yesterday, I started a new job and low and behold I start getting cramps from breakfast!ugh.!! So I paniced, I can't leave and freaking out this was going to be an issue. This has gotten my eating into a complete jumble and I am trying to catch up on eating by the end of the evening to make up for the day. I thought maybe I should make up a little kit so I have it for emergencies at work. So what helps with stomach upset and everything that follows? Do you think I caught a bug or I am worried it is all the new food? I haven't introduced but one food at a time. I am drinking just fine. Food does not come up but it does come out!TMI I know! I am just trying to find out what has worked best for you. How do you handle the I GOTTA GO NOW issues?

I just started my dream job and I don't want to lose it before I get to enjoy it. I have waited this long to start because I wanted to make sure I was ready to go to work. Now I am stressing out that I made a mistake. I know, off the deep end, but this is really stressing me and the hubby just laughs, not mean or anything, he just doesn't get it and says you need to relax. I don't want this to be on the back of my mind all the time.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

When they said try new foods, I'm sure they meant to try foods within the rules. Potatoes, rice, bread and chips are all white starches that turn quickly into sugar in your blood. This can make you feel (and be! ) crappy.

Kill the carbs, get back on track with the rules, and when you add new foods, make sure they have enough nutritional value to be worth filling your tiny pouch with.

HI.. I had the same thing happen at my husbands dr appt yesterday after a protien bar (whoda think). You just have to excuse yourself and do what you need to do. Figure out your trigger foods and stay away from them during the day, if you want to test again. I work a very high stress high demand job and on the phone all day. I have had to excuse myself for a bio break.
Watching what I test during out of the house times is my pledge. Good luck !!

Stick with your safe foods during the workday, only try new foods after work or on the weekends. As CT says, those new foods still need to be within the rules. Trying to "catch up" in the evenings could also be part of the problem. Almost fasting all day and then eating too much later on upsets the system.

Another thing that could be causing your problems is just plain nerves about the new job. If I get upset about something my pouch gets upset too. It will start rumbling and grumbling and churning. Find a way to calm yourself - hot bath, your favorite music, whatever. See if that helps.

Oh, I also see that you asked about needing to excuse yourself. Tell your boss, and other's if you feel comfortable, that you've had recent surgery and are still recovering and will sometimes need to exit a meeting for a few minutes. Then stand up and excuse yourself when you need to. Believe me, that would be better than staying and suddenly having a particularly loud one go off ..... or worse!

You also said your whole family was sick. You could also have it, just not so bad as they.
But do go back to the rules. When you add something new, try a small amount.
And, ALWAYS TRY IT AT HOME first.
I have used Immodium or Pepto Bismal once or twice w good results. But that isn't a cure, ok?
Why not try "new" food at dinner time when you are home?
I can only say it WILL get better, promise!
