No regrets.but PLEASE listen to your nutritionist on how to eat and don't fall back into old habits later on down the road because it is so easy to slip back.

5 and a half months out....94 pounds gone.......I am physically able to do the things I used to do, 30 years ago!! My health has improved 100%....I am actually living my life, not watching it pass by from the couch. I had a few glitches right after surgery, but I knew what I was getting into and made the decision to plow ahead with the surgery. The only regret I have is like so many others, that I didn't have it sooner. If my surgeon said that I needed to redo the operation, I would run into the hospital and jump right up on the operating table for them to proceed!! One of the best decisions I have ever made for myself!!!!

She's just being shy with what it took to get her on the Loser's Bench, sitting up and taking nourishment. Go back in the archives and search out Country_Strong's story of approval and early days. If she's willing to go through all that again, this WLS thing must be pretty darned powerful!! (Hint: it is!!)

My surgery was Nov 14, 2011. It was the best decision I have made to have the surgery. The 1st month after surgery was difficult but you will make it through...

I only wish I had done it 4 years ago when my internist suggested it.. When he did that it hurt my feelings..Now I wish I could have been feeling this great for 3 years instead of 1.. Just had my one year anniversary. I have lost 115 lbs. I ran a mile today and then ran the straights and walked the curves for another mile and 1/2.. its so awesome to have my life back.. I have never regretted my decision..

| It's good that you ask before taking such a big step. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago TODAY. I'm in pain still; I don’t like my post op diet HOWEVER... I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know it's there, it's a long tunnel and my faith, husband, family and friends will get me through it. One thing to remember about this surgery is to be taken seriously. There are a few different surgeries for gastric bypass and when it came down to which one to get for me? I asked my surgeon for the most appropriate one for me (320lbs, 13 medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, severe back problems, etc.. etc..) he said the Roux EN Y and that is what I had. While in the hospital and here recovering at home: I've cried-a lot - sad tears, happy tears and tears of pain. Do I have any regrets? No. Already I am down to 5 medications (including a pain medication). I wish you all the best in your research and it’s great that you too found this website forum, I’m so happy I did. Take care.

I thought about it for almost 2 years. I finally "pulled the trigger" and did it on August 30th of last year. I was pre-diabetic and before I had the surgery I was worried about my trip to Europe...the flight over because of the seat belts and worried about how many steps the Tower of London had...but no more. I have lost over 75 lbs and my sugar is normal and I can pop right up the steps. I still have weight to go. I sometimes look at food and "think" to myself "I wish..." but I don't need to eat that stuff....just a bite will do me...life and experiences are much better!

No regrets at all. I wish I hadn't waited a year trying to lose through diet alone. Sure I've got some problems but that's nothing compared to how I was feeling 2 months ago. I am feeling better than I have in 15 years.

While I have regrets, It's an all or nothing decision and you have to accept that there will be side effects. Me experience was tough. I almost bled out 2 weeks post-op and spent some time in ICU. I also had my Gall Bladder taken out right before my 1 year and it was fine pre-op. After the gall bladder I now have pretty severe low blood sugar issues if I deviate from a proper diet.
On the plus side I have dropped 160 pounds, I no longer have sleep apnea, or High BP, and I don't expect to die of a Heart Attack in my mid-40's.
I live with the good and the bad and still believe, nearly three years out, that I made the right choice.
