| Full Feeling
It is almost 4 weeks since my surgery. When I eat I don't get that "full feeling" like I thought I was suppose to be getting. I do however get a lump like feeling in my chest, just above the breast area. It passes and is just slightly uncomfortable. Is this normal? Sometimes it happens after only a few small bites of something.

Well at least I'm not the only one, I haven't felt hungry or full or anything since the surgery and was wondering the same thing! Glad you posted.

I was wondering the same thing - I haven't gotten even to that point, feeling a lump... I'm being soooo careful to NOT overdo things, I'm afraid of over doing it!! Also, any idea how long it takes for liquids (like mint tea) to pass through the pouch?? I'm worried about overdoing even my fluids, but also know that I need to get my fluids in

I am an Aug 30th. I seldom get the "full feeling" because I don't let my body get that far because I was always worried about stretching my pouch. And I have to say that it really depends on what I eat on whether I would get it or not. I am a vegetarian so the protein first thing I struggle with on a daily basis. I do beans, cheese and soy products. When I eat an egg I can barely eat a whole scrambled egg but i can eat more of something else. I think that is why they say protein first so you have room. Are you following that so you can get your protein in before the full feeling?
And if you are feeling it in your chest...I am worried that is that a common thing?...as my friend Judst had a stricture and backup. Ask DocSanae about that.

I am 9 mths out and I don't get the "typical" full feeling, but I do get the "lump" in the chest. From what I understand that lump is our full feeling..something new again! Depending upon what I eat I can get the lump after just a few bites and other things I can eat my full portion and not get the lump. Also as far as liquids stretching the pouch, imagine your pouch as a funnel..opening at the bottom..liquids will go through, slower than a funnel but the same principal. Still need to sip as a mouthful of liquid is more than the pouch holds.

You won't have the kind of full feeling that you had pre op.
A "lump", burping, hiccups seem to be the most common signs.

Ok, so if this is my full filling, why does happen sometimes after two bites?

Usually depends on the texture of the food.
