Default what am i doing wrong hungry all the time

I need your help! It's been a little over 5 months since my surgery and I am wanting to eat all day everyday. I don't understand what has happened because up until now I have not strayed from the rules of this program at all. two wks. ago i started to implement some fruits into my diet and am eating fiber one cereal daily which by the way has taken care of the constipation problem that i was taking 8 to 10 tsps. of benefiber for and 4 stool softeners a day and still nothing. I am also up to 1 cup of food per meal is this to much this early? I didn't really think so until I started eating an hour or two after my meals. snacking all the time. Old eating habits have taken over with no warning once so ever. I can't believe that I have been given this wonderful tool and now I can't control my hunger. I have made an appt. with a eating disorder shrink I hope it helps. at this point I will do anything well I say i will but i don't seem to be able to stop my hand from putting junk in my mouth. I am really scared right now. Thanks for listening. Cindy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

(((HUG)))) i know for me i battle hungries alot always did from early out.
CAN you post some samples of your daily eatings so maybe we can help out.....I know for me personally i always had to do 3 meals and 3 snacks but ALWAYS very PROTEIN loaded meals...meaning i always focused on the protein first and if i had room had a veggie or other side....usually I was to full to have much of that. THE protein loaded part of the meal
keeps us fuller longer and helps.
PUT up a sample and maybe i can be of some more help
hugs!
(I know further out water loading is used but your far to early to start that process my sugeon doesnt allow that till 12 to 18 months out)

hugs

Just at first blush it sounds like when you added fruit this started it all off? Plus the fiber one which is VERY carby.

Carbs make ya hungry. Pure simple. I've not really until lately had any hunger issues. I had to eat on a schedule due to (we think) my vagus nerve being cut. never ever get that signal of hunger, but I've learned to interpret what it means when my body needs food..so maybe it's just that I'm "learning" the hunger signals. Which frankly I don't like!!

I personally can't do any fruit and rarely if ever do. Protein first, most and then after that vegetables. Well I guess the only fruit would be in yoghurt.

Awww, ((((((((HUGS))))))))
Are you doing the water loading between meals? If not, check out the Pouch Rules, and start with that.
I just read something interesting, that often, obese people can not differentiate between hunger and thirst, for some reason, then never learned the difference between the two. This was by a nurse who herself had RNY.
Also, as well as for real cravings, is there anything that might trigger the craving? Like TV commercials, something you are drinking, as well as the snacks themselves?
It might help you to make a list of what triggers your *hunger* because recognizing your triggers is the first step in overcoming the hunger issue.

You are at the stage when the hunger returns, so, your feeling hungry is pretty much normal for the stage you are at. I'm sure you know in your head that the surgery is a tool, and that means that it's not a magic wand that will take your hunger away.

Default Hungry

Hi, I haven't had the surgery yet but my sis in law has. When I asked her about this and she is 2 years out now, she told me if she eats any carbs, even in the form of fruit, it makes her feel hungry. I don't know why, but that is what she told me. So she told me she tries to keep away from most carbs most of the time. I hope that helps.

I would say your eating very well PROTEIN loaded foods...
is your surgeon against protein snack between meals?
I know for me i used a stallone protein pudding, string cheese,
handful of nuts, hard boiled eggs, protein shakes between meals
to help combat the hungers? but i do know some surgeons dont
want snacks...mine was fine with it ...and i know i needed it....

as long as your doing a protein loaded snack it will keep that looseing
going well!!!!!!!(of course when i thought i was hitting stalls i would splurge and have strawberries)....

Again I still say the fruit is the simplest answer here..try cutting that out and see if the hunger issues go away? My nutritionist, when I told her that I couldn't eat fruit-dumped badly on any at all- said if I kept up my vitamins and ate well otherwise I didn't need the fruit. Sometimes the answer IS pretty simple you know? otherwise what you're eating looks great!

oh--on the constipation issue..our doc's RN said that it is NORMAL to only have 1-2 BMs a week post op for a long time. She explained that it's about that intake issue. You only take in 3tblsp of food 4-5 times a day you are NOT going to have a BM every day. A lot of our group there had a lot of issues apparently with not being what they thought was 'regular' in having a BM every single day. It just wasn't gonna happen.

Until this stoma totally opened up I only went every other to every 3rd day and then about every 10th day my entire gut would empty out. which BTW is when I usually would weigh! LOL
