Default eating too much

i know there have been alot of posts on this topic and ive read some that talk about keeping your meals at 1/2 c. i have to be honest and say that i havent been one to measure my food since my surgery but because my weight loss was so much and i was so sick the first 10 weeks or so i just let this slide but things are changing now, my weight loss is slowing and im noticing im hungry alot and i know i eat more than i should. i want to get this under control now while i am early out before i get really out of control, im working on smaller portions and i have to say its not very easy i find myself hungry once my bowl is empty but then there are times too when i cant finish the small portion i give myself. im really confused and mad at myself for not controling it all sooner, is there any advise for me on turning this all around now while i still can?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I am totally new to this. But could you list what you eat through out the course of a typical day? It might help someone out there figure it out. I have heard of this thru reading posts and speaking to people and wonder: are you eating or snacking on carbs??

Okay. For one thing, 60g protein totals 240 cals already, so it's just about impossible keeping your total cals under 400 with that amount protein intake.
What am I trying to say? I am trying to say that, once you are back to solid food, your total intake should amount to 800-900 at the least, from 1000-1200 in some cases, and even at that calorie, weight loss is possible. You lose weight because your total intake is less than what you use in a day, and even at 1000 kcal, at the weight you are at now, it is waaaay below what you need to keep you going.
What is happening to you? Your body is going into the starvation mode. Trying to latch on to every single calorie you eat, because it is thinking that you are starving. Our bodies are geared towards survival during famine, so, if it sees a lack of something, it's going to try to store up everything. What to do? Increase your uptake using good food--protein and fibers, so your body understands that you are not starving.

Your eating will be confusing to you for quite some time, and your hunger is partly real, part only your head--you crave something, you think you're hungry because of something that triggers the thought of food for you.

Have you read the Pouch Rules? Print it out, keep it close to you, go over it whenever you feel you are doing something wrong.

Keep in mind, your body will be adjusting, getting used to your new and changed plumbing, your new life style, and your new weight. It takes quite a lot ot do that, and things are very confusing for the physical regulatory system of your body. So, relax, don't panic that things are not going the way you think it should, you thought it would.
If you are in pain, or repeatedly throw food up, then get in touch with your surgeon pronto, but for the most part, relax and enjoy the ride, however much you may fear it, it really isn't that easy to ruin your surgery this early out.

((((((HUGS)))))) Keep faith your journey will turn out well.

HI HAMI GIRL!!!
((HUGS)))
yes its a very nerve racking time when you can eat more....
still want to loose more
and that pound a day loose slows up.
BUT relax the tool you been given will work for you.
JUST stick to the rules of eating your surgeon set out
and you will contintue to loose even if your portions
are a tad bigger. ITS normal to eat more at about
every six months mark you will find it.
IT does take some displine and work on your part
and your getting to a part now were you might have to
be sure your makeing the best eating choices for your
pouch.
I know i was ALWAYs taught by my surgeon and nutritionist to
eat my protein first in a meal....and then move on to a veggie
and if had any room try a mouthful or two of the side which
too funny i never really had the room for that stuff the protein
usually filled me up being the most dense, and would keep me full
longest.

FOR me i have now almost two years out let to much carb in my day
so im gonna carb detox myself and get back to the basic rules i been
taught and clean up these CARBS that give me tons of trouble.

SOMETHING the first year that helped me the most with poritions, being
like you i never measured was eating from little baby food/toddler bowls!
GOOD luck and i know your gonna be a huge successful LOOSER!

thanks for the help all. i read the rules for the pouch and that did give me some info i didnt know, i feel like that prerson it referred to in the end who after gaining the weight back said she didnt ever know there were pouch rules, but it was very encouraging knowing its wasnt too late for her so i know its not too late for me.
i do have a couple of questions that i know i should know the answer too and i am embarrased to ask but here they go ..... ill be 4 months postop the end of the month at this time how many calories should i take in a day, also the article talked about 11/2c and there has been alot of talk about just 1/2c size servings, so what should my serving size be? and this water loading that it talked about i had not really heard of it before except in a couple posts here, am i too early out to begin doing this and if not then you load up on as much water as you can wait 15 mins and then eat?
i am determined to turn this around so all the help i can get to do so is more than appreciated. thanks in advance ............ kathy

For one thing, don't worry too much about the calorie numbers, concentrate first on getting the protein in, actually, at the stage you are, your total intake is probably under 1000 kcals.
If you feel hunger already, and you are eating regularly, it's basically okay to start the water loading, I think the article said around 6 months or so.
