Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | is it possible that when you lose you see them more because your skin goes back to the original state which makes them more visible?? i KNOW i got mine as i gained and "spread" in certain areas. I'm sure they will still be there even when i lose. Darker skin is funny that way. but at that point i will consider them battle wounds; a mark to remind me of where I was and what i went thru. i dont think they ever go away to be honest... |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | 5 yrs post here...I used the palmer's cocoa butter for belly/stretch marks, I also ate a higher FAT content with dairy as I was able to tolerate dairy quite well. stetch marks happen from the stretching of the skin to accomodate the increasing size so when you lose yes they get more obvious. However it also depends a lot on how YOUR skin is and a lot to do with heredity. I've known women/men who lost a lot of weight slowly thinking that the skin would do better and they still had hanging skin and wrinkles and stretch marks. ![]() I've been very blessed. I'm not young. Had the surgery at age 40 and am now 45 and have given birth to 3 children who are now teens. I used a lot of the cocoa butter products to keep skin SOFT and also one of the skin firming lotions. But did that help? I think it had a lot more to do with my thick tough skin and a high high fibrin count so that I hyperhealed until the leukemia hit. Stretch marks are kind of one of those things though. I've seen thin skinny women who have 'em and have never had kids or anything. Yes I've seen them on women who got too big of implants too. They fade with time. This last 26? lb gain resulted in stretch marks I did NOT have previously which is frustrating! ![]() --bree hope this helped at all?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Stretch mark sufferer here.....Even after the tummy tuck there was only so much that could be done with the ones i had. I did have some removed however some are still there..... I have learned to hide them and wear the right clothes to cover ...No bikinis here...lolLittleLisaMarie |

| Super Moderator | Hmmm, hate to be dissapointing to you gals, but.... The truth about stretch marks.... Stretch marks are due to the break of the elastic layer of the skin, just below the outermost layer of the skin. This happens when the skin is stretched more than the elastic layer can stay intact with the stretching, and the scar lines turn up white, and will fade to a certain extent with time, but the break in the layer doesn't recover, and stays a scar line. So, basically, they aren't going to go away, and with weightloss, the wrinkles will become more noticiable. The amount and the limit where you get stretch marks will depend partly on your constitution/genetics, so with two different persons with same conditions to start with will end up differently. Thin women can get it, too, and you see it most often with pregnancies, though some lucky women seem to make it through without any. Truth is, I have some on my butt, I didn't get any on the front that was noticiable with my pregnancies, but I guess I got mine on the behinds instead. ![]() ![]()

Weight Loss Method Physician Prescribed Diet/Exercise | Honestly, I'm really enjoying the fact that my stretch marks are no longer pulled flat and smooth by underlying fat! From my 3rd pregnancy (I got no bigger than the rest of them) I got stretch marks from my bikini line to about 3 inches above my belly button--streaking up both sides. There are a lot of them. When I got down to a normal weight before, I did wear a 2 piece bathing suit. I mean the marks are white/silver and hardly show unless you're a foor in front of my navel staring. For some reason I get a kick out of touching my deflating belly--and how the stretch marks are feeling much more like stripes/grooves in the skin. To me it's just a sign of weight loss. Even my 19 year-old SON, who has never been heavy, who is a college lacrosse player and WAY into "perfecting" his physique has stretch marks. So at 43, I don't care about them anymore, XOXO Mya |
