This might seem like a stupid thing to ponder but I was wondering. Did anyone else have extremely rapid nail growth post op? I have NEVER been able to grow nails, with the exception of being pregnant. I guess the prenatal vitamins helped. But I dont get why my nails have grown so much. If we have a malabsorption, and the vitamins I am taking are only being absorbed enough to put me at "normal" levels, how are my nails growing like this????? I'm not complaining, just curious...

no Lisa. i dont take anything other than my womesn ultra mega (without iron) twice a day, my calcium, and my b12....its the strnagest thing. I havent taken the biotin because i havent lost any hair yet. thats growing too. but i just got it cut so i didnt include a picture of that lol!

I think protein is proly really good for the nails too. I am a nail picker so i never have long ones so i cant say i noticed any change. ONLY time i eva have nails are if i put acrylics on !!!

Kenyar: Yes my nails are growing quickly too. But I also stopped biting them after surgery so I just thought it was because of that. LOL

mine were always really quick growers, hair nails...but ..sorry for the but! after 6-9 mos post they slowed down(around that same time with the hair loss)my nails started getting soft and ridged really badly...until about 4 mos ago I had been getting my nails done due to the slower growth..hair too..I learned in the past year to just NOT get my hair whacked as I'd be living with it a long long time until it grew slooowwwly out.  Now though...in the past 3 mos and since I stopped getting my nails done I've noticed they are growing better (once they grew past the softened nails) than they had been previously..still very very ridged though. -bree

Mine are the longest and strongest they have been in many many years. I think like everyone says, its the vitamins and maybe the protein. I am taking Biotin. So I originally asusmed that it was from that. Trying to head off the hair loss stage, dont know if it will help. I just met a girlfriend for lunch the other day and were eating and she said "Whoah, you have nails." I said it all part of the new me. |
