Exclamation Sugar Alcohols?????

Just when I thought I had my label surfing under control, there is a new variable.....sugar alcohols. OH BOY!

does anyone know what this is?
does anyone know how many grams of this might make me dump?
do i look at this in grams as if its real sugar or sugar substitute?

HELP!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Here's another thread on sugar alcohols.
And another one.
Hope these threads help answer your Q.

That's okay. We need them asked repeatedly, as many of the threads do get buried as time goes by.

To search old threads, click the Search button up above, then type in the key words in the blank. If this doesn't work well, go on to "Advanced search" and go from there.

Hi Kenyar:

If your body can tolerate the sugar alcohols they are OK. I know that when you count carbs you subtract the fiber and sugar alcohols off your carb grams and that would be your net carb grams. The key again is MODERATION.

personally when I was riding hard core on my intake and weight loss I found even ONE...sugar thing aday (ie: 1 thin mint 1!) made my weight loss totally stall out..plus I dumped hard on certain sugar alcohols..I've found out later that I'm allergic to some of them!

I dont dump from products loaded with sugar alchohols
but i will have NASTY bouts int the toilet...
for me its like a lexative and now and then if i need
a good cleaning out i will eat a small treat with
the sugar alcholols (malitol) and boy i get a
cleaning in the am!

thats my experience with them i watch them like
i do sugars ...and im always careful if i have some
i will be able to have plenty of use of a potty!
sorry to be so detailed but its the truth for me.
this happened pre op too with these products so
i know its really not a dump just how that stuff
reacts for me!

Sugar alcohols will actually make me throw up if I have more than just a smidgen. I can't even have two thin mints of russell stover's without ending up having a revisit so I shy away from them. HOpe you are able to find out what is best for you.

I actually do better with small amount of sugar then i do sugar alcohols....everyone tolerates different..I know that i tried some sugar free fudge bars once and wasnt a good idea....once again trial and error is the only way to know what and how much you will be able to tolerate. Good luck
