I've started eating carbs to try to head off my brain fog. BUT, I am finding that about an houro s so later i am TIRED. My concern is that I might be hypoglycemic (sp). Is that even the right disorder for this symptom???
I know, I know, I plan to address this at my follow up visit, but before hand I like to run my symptoms by the group to make sure I am not panicing. So.....does this happen to anyone else? I mean I dont eat that much in terms of carbs. i literally JUST started adding them regularly this week. I might have 2-3 saltines and then 30 minutes to an hour later i need a nap. lol! its the funniest thing...
I guess I have to learn my body all over again. Gosh after 30 years I guess I have to get re-aquainted

Yup, sounds like hypoglycemia. Sure, lots of post ops get it. It seems most of the time, it doesn't happen with any/every form of carbs. Like, you get it with crackers, but if you eat something different with the same amount of carb in it, like fruits or potatoes, you won't get it. It's going to be trial and error for you in finding out which stuff are fine, and which are not.

trial and error ain't it F U N ?! lol..
yeppers...hypoglycaemia wonderful thing...makes the brain fog leave quick for a short while and then whammo!! nap or die! *grin*
cut 'em back and out and try ONE new carb a week for awhile to see what works for ya. I know that sounds crazy..one new food a week..but it really helps you KNOW for sure! what is helping and what is hurting.

I find its very normal and sometimes a mild sign of a dump to be SOoooooo tired after a meal.
I still get that now and then.
ARE you useing a LOWFAT cracker???or a multi grain that
does matter a drop to us post op and as early out as you are.
THE fat in the crackers might be triggering this faint sign of
dumping. TO add the carbs to ur diet you might find a veggie
or fruit will do better on you. JUST play around and find foods that work.

Yup, fruits are carbs. Though as food group, they are usually listed as "fruits", their major nutrient is fructose, which is a kind of sugar.
Check out this site Food Surveys Products and Services . It may take some practice to get the hang of it, but just type in the name of whatever you want to check, whether raw produce or manufactured, then choose the exact stuff you want, click, fill in the protion (cup, lb, whatever) and serving, click, and the "label" comes up.
I have a couple of other links that you could use in this thread. What's in the foods you eat?

Thanks DOc. As always you're a life saver. The link does take some getting used to but works great. Thanks again.

Kenya, one way I have always thought is if it is Sweet or Starchy it is a carb.
