I've just begun my journey to surgery, and one question I have is, How long after surgery before I will be comfortable sleeping on my stomach again? Thanks in advance.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi! Welcome. Congratulations on deciding to take the steps towards your journey. Everyone heals differently and at their own pace. You will have some people on here tell you theycouldnt even sleep in their beds for a week or two post op. I, myself was in the bed and on my stomach within a day or two. I remember sleeping on my side the first night because I was afraid to sleep on my stomach, but it wasnt pain that kept me from it. It all depends. I know thats not the "definite" answer you were looking for but to be honest, there will be lots of things that depend on the individual along this journey. Good luck!

To give you the other side of the coin. It was three weeks before I could sleep for any time on my stomach. I did move to my side after about 8-9 days as there was no way I was getting any sleep on my back.

Welcome and good luck. The journey is worth it.

Stomach sleeper here and was back on my stomach the day I was released from the hospital. The first night I put a soft pillow under my stomach and the next night nothing.

are you having LAP or OPEN....I'm not a stomach sleeper either..just every once in a while even now will I sleep on my stomach.

But ..anyway!..I had open and it was very uncomfortable to sleep for very long for quite awhile for me..I know that's probably not very helpful! But I also had a vaginal hystero that was done laproscopically also 9 mos later and that was a much quicker time of it.

open vs lap makes a difference for the answer for sure!

I was afraid to sleep on my tummy at first but after awhile I just did it but then I was so large at the time of my surgery I could not sleep on my stomach at all.
So that was a real treat!!!!!

The thought of being able to sleep on my stomach again after all these years is exciting. LOL. Welcome to the board. I having surgery Monday, the 25th and had not even thought of that. Back in my younger days I did sleep on my stomach. That will be another WOW moment for me if I can soon. Mattie
