Hey every body had a quick question? I just started eating these cereal bars from south beach diet. I really like the cinnamon raisin ones. They have 140 calories and ten grams of protein per bar and really good tasting please tell me these are fine for me to eat or not I guess?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

CAN you post the nutritional label....

i know for me i tend to watch my protein, sugars, carbs, sugar alcohols ...
so without seeing that information it might be hard to tell.
I know i used now and again some protein bars ...i always had to keep one in my purse for when i got an uncomfortable pang in my size and needed to eat...i think lookin back that was my ulcer LOL

LET us know the product details....and im sure we can advise you how they rate!!!! BUT if you can tolerate them and they SHOULD HAVE PROTEIN!!!!! being i know my rule for eating is always eat a meal loaded
with protein getting the protein portion in first!

hugs

yeah i would be hesitant to say anything without seeing the label lol. i think for the most part if you can get it down and it stays down you arent hurting yourself, but you do need to watch the nutritional content.

the sobe ones aren't really low carb per se...I found that they gave me wonderful bouts of horrible gas and pain..but boy they taste good due to the sugar in them...The south beach 'diet' is about combining certain types of foods and carbs...with a leaner approach than the atkins.
---if you read the label the sobe usually have 26 or MORE carbs..even subtracting the fiber and sugar alcohols...which some schools of thought do and other's don't...then technically it is..but really it isn't...and hidden wayyyyy in there on the ingredients is fructose = sugar.
--the one good thing is that the protein they use is SOY which a great protein..but therefore the gassiness for some.

can you tell I've been studying lately?! lol...

comparing and contrasting the:
a)south beach diet
b)the new atkins
c)hypoglycemia -GI index

right now I'm trying to find the answers in HOW I used to eat, what I was doing and what is different now..so hit the books and study, make charts, compare eating etc...

there's a formula for each person and I'm trying to go back and re-discover mine. apparently what was working when I was hitting the weights hard time and running hard time was a 3:3:3 of protein/fat/carbs...but when I cut back on the weights and was only running a 60/40 ratio of protein to carbs with a small wedge in there of fats.....

thank goodness for the long term diary of fitday.com!!

With 10g protein, that means 40kcals of the 140 is from protein, since protein is 4kcal per g. That means that the remaining 100 comes from something else. If the something else is all carbs, then the carb listing should be 25g, as carbs also are 4kcal to a g.

Well, it depends on how you look at it, and how the rest of your diet balance is, actually.
Fat is 9 kcal per gram, so 5g fat is 45 kcal. So, you see, even though the fat content is half the protein, the calories from fat exceeds that of protein.
If you keep your fat and carb intake low with the rest of your diet, and concentrate on getting protein in, it will work well, but if you add the same type of food, you will get in more calories from fat and carbs than you realize.
I'd say BreeChicks sums it up.
Kept in moderation, it's fine, just as anything else is, but if you depend on it, it may not work well.
So, actually, it is up to you.

ITs not a horrible protein bar.
15 carbs isnt god awful i know
many protein bars can have more.

I was very strict the first 12 months
of my surgery and kept my sugars and
sugar alchols well under 10 grams per
item but that was just me and my obsession.
I think if the sugar alchols arent causeing
you trips to the bathroom this makes a
good thing to eat with the amount of protein in it.

PRODUCTS like that i always just kept one in my
purse in case i was in a bind and was needy to eat
and didnt have good protein sources available and
tempted by junk!

SORRY it took me long to answer but i wasnt well
yesterday and ended up in the ER last night for a
cat bite that had signs of infection!

i think if you arent dumping from the sugar, you're fine. But dont eat those all day. use that once maybe as an afternoon snack but focus the rest of the day on your protein. and as for the views, pay not attention to that lol! lost of people come here to look and because they arent registered they cant post responses.

You're doing fine.
