My surgery was the 19th...Somewhere I heard that I was supposed to lose 20-30 lbs before my post op appt with my surgeon. I have done everything exactly by the book, but have only lost 10 pounds. I am feeling a bit discouraged....Please someone...Give me some advice.
Thanks,
Kim

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

No dont feel discouraged at all. We all lose differently; especially in the beginning. Anything could be affecting it. Not to be too personal: is it anywhere near your time of the month? You may be retainging the fluids that they gave youin the hospital. dont stress. i think you will be fine.

WELCOME TO THE BOARDS! You'll love it here

Hi Kim -

Don't worry about how fast you're losing at this point. Many of us gain weight in the hospital from all the IV fluids. I was there earlier this week for an appendectomy and gained 8 lbs. in just 2 days on a clear liquid diet!! At my first post-op appt. I had lost 12 lbs. and I'm doing okay. I've lost 111 lbs. in 9 months. Hang in there you will be fine!

And if I haven't told you already, welcome to the site!

Chrissy

Hi Kim,

Yes everyone loses it different. Now think about those 10 lbs you lost... Take 2 5 lbs bags of sugar and hold them. Yep its ALOT! Now think how long it would have taken you before this surgery to have done that. No smile and give your body a chance to show you a difference. And remember what they always tell you......You might not see it on the scale but your losing inches. Have a great day sweeite.

((((((HUGS))))) You're doing fine!!
How many days since your surgery? 11 days? So, you've lost 1lb per day!! When was the last time you lost that much? When's your post op appt?
Don't worry, everyone loses differently, and who said you're supposed to lose 20-30 lb before your first post op appt (which usually is a week post op, so you possibly couldn't lose that much, actually) your surgeon? If not, then don't listen to them.
Now, just another thought, but often surgeons require their patients to lose some pre-op, and in that case, you add the lbs lost during this pre op preparation to the total lost, in which case, the total could come up for some people to 20-30 lb.

Keep up the good work, you're doing very well!
