I am scheduled for surgery 8/13 and am a single mom of two kids. I was wondering if anyone out there ever was moody before they had surgery. Some days I am so ill I can't stand to be around myself. Will this change after surgery? I guess I'm just so unhappy with myself and was just wondering if any other moms out there felt this way before surgery and then the surgery changed them.

Moody. Hmmm. Well i suppose i was cranky. I was second guessing myself left and right. I am a single mom too. I think I can honestly say I am way more positive and upbeat now than I was before. I think it's kind of like a "reset" or a rebirth of sorts. you get to start fresh. think positively. i prmise you will get to where you need to be |

I too am a single mom, at least for another month and a half anyway, I find myself a little moody afterwards because I was overwhelmed with everything and that had me on edge but you get used to a routine and everything falls into place. Roz

Well Im Not A Single Mom, But I Am A Mom. Ive Been Very Moody. Afraid Of The Surgery, Afriad Of Failure, Not Knowing What To Expect, So Many New Things To Remember For The New Pouch, Confused On The New Things For The New Pouch, Hoping I Wont Miss Food To The Point I Go Nuts, Etc Etc Etc So Yes I Guess Its Normal To Be Freaked Out By This Whole Life Changing Experience. |

Yup. If you aren't going nuts, you're not normal. The roller coaster emotions are quite normal, go to any of the posts the post ops were posting when they were pre-ops with a date and the date coming on fast. They were all saying the same things in different words. ((((((((HUGS))))))))) The best to you on your journey to all you pre-ops with your date coming up fast!!

SURE there were normal mood swings pre op but i hate to advise that i became more moody during the rapid weight loss stages. AND very emotional as well. I imagine before its the stress and fear of the unknown.... and then who knows what its about post op other then something many experience ur normal that i will say and if for any one it gets too much i would recommend meds to help!

Cranky is the word that comes to mind. I just never seem to be happy. I hope after surgery that I experience a 'rebirth' and have the energy and desire to start a new life.

Hi all, I had my surgery 15 days ago and I was a wreck the two weeks leading into it, not sure about anything at that point. I was worried about the pain immediately after, how incapacitated I might be after, not eating after etc. Now I'm starting to get into a routine and I'm feeling much better. I have a 5 year old boy and I too feel like I need some space from him now more than before, but, by and large feel so much better now having the surgery behind me and the weight starting to come down. It's so much more empowering making healthy choices and seeing concrete results on the scale daily (at least for now) thanks to the WLS. Good luck! Those last few weeks are tough right before the surgery. I would get up at crazy hours and just come here to read posts to calm my mind down. We're all with you and understand! Good luck, keep reading and keep posting! Amy

Well, you guys had me convinced that the mood swings were normal after just a couple of days on this site. But, I have to say that it is a relief to know that I am not the only one who is up all hours of the night reading things over and over again!
