Default Whats the difference between a snack and a meal???

Dont get me wrong, I could tell you what the difference would have been pre-op but post I have no clue. My meals are literally snack size. I mean for dinner i've been eating 2 triscuits and 1 oz of cheese for christ's sake. meal or snack?? does this mean i just need to eat 2 more "meals" a day?? I'm lost. does a 4oz cup of yogurt count as a meal or a snack?

I thought that going to the nutritionist would be helpful, but I cant really say that it is. She isnt planing my meals or helping with measurements or anything like that. She just asks me what I've been eating and tells me I'm doing it wrong lol! Tells me dont eat more than a 1 cup serving at mealtime. But offers no solutions.

I need suggestions. I dont plan meals which is a HUGE problem and generally why i dont eat when/what i should. i just dont know how to do this. I just grab something when i remember which has to stop. I cant do that anymore because i realize its wrong and not eating enough is BAD BAD BAD. anyone have any ideas?

Also, how many calories am i supposed to be consuming at this point? when i asked at my dr visit, no one seems to know or be concerned. Supposedly its nowhere near what i was eating before so they dont care?? that's just not a good enough answer for me. i want to be successful and lose as much as possible during my honeymoon period, but it seems i dont have good resources at my disposal. anyone with ideas by all means chime in

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HONESTLY i just referred to all my eating as mini meals!!!!!!
cause thats really what they are....a
and really no difference for me always protein related.
I guess for me a snack would be if i totally age out of my pouch rule and snuck in some crackers which i didnt do early out but do now! LOL

I never ever counted calories.....because the key is to focus on ur protein......and if u are its granted ur calories will fall into place at a good level.

I was taught to eat my protein first, if i had room take some veggies mouthfuls and lastely a side of something else ...potatoe, whole grain rice (when out far), noodles...thing like that.

FUNNY thing is usually i had no room after the protein so my meal was mainly the meat, chicken, pork, fish...and that was it.

wait so i shouldnt be having crackers? now im confused. ive been eating saltines forever. maybe thats why the weights coming off so slow. im just not doing this right..

so i should add like two more 1/2 chicken breasts into my day? its that easy? i thought a snack was literally that: 100 calorie pack of ritz crackers or a granola bar, some fruit. had no idea EVERYTHING i eat should begin with protein. wow. here i am 3 months out and no one told me lol! well i guess the next 3 months will definitely be better.

THANKS LISA!

Kenyar: I would try to concentrate on a protein as a snack. Ex. some cheese wedges, nuts, deli meats, yogert. I do occasionaly have LF wheat thins with my cheese but not on a daily basis. Like Lisa said eat your protein first then if you have room eat a cracker. My doc actually said to eat a regular diet for me right now. But I try to concentrate on proteins first then veggies, fruits, then carbs. I never count calories just protein. I do make sure I get in a protein shake of 48 grams in a day (2 scoops unjery powder and 8 oz milk equal that) then I know Im getting in at least 60 grams of protein in a day and that way i dont have to worry to much on getting the rest in, its pretty easy.

Hope that helps and dont confuse you more.
