Default depression help

OK heres the story Was experiencing mild depressin and bit more anxienty. Primary doc put me on Lexapro was on for like 2 years. Realized that it was the cause for my majorly decreased sexual desire. so I stopped them on my own and did pretty well coming off them. Desire came back and needless to say hubby very happy. LOL. Told primary doc what I did and he suggested Effexor. Started on 75 mg. Sexual desire went away again and didnt really seem to do much for anxiety. Doc increaed to 150 mg. Didnt do anything. hubby said my personality without antidepressants was much better. so i decided to stop the effexor on my own again. I know Im not suppose to do that but thats how I do things. Well im majorly depressed been off for 3 days crying alot and anxiety horrid worse than ever. Sexual desire back tho lol. Obviously sex is very important to hubby and hurst our relationship if im not in the mood ever. I dont know what to do. But i feel like crap now. Oh also the effexor amde me majorly constipated and if anyone recalled in any of my previous post i have hemmoroids that kill so thats another reason not to be on them. I di have xanax that takes the edge off but im only allowed 3 a day and i could use more. Any suggestions????? Help!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Honey im on Lexapro to. Have been for a couple years myself. I agree with sexual part at times. Hubby just has to be more constructive on his end. LOL. I dont know really what to suggest to you except to tell your PCP again. Perhaps and this might be a dreaded word....Prozac? I suppose what I need to ask is....... is it more depression or anxiety. Mine is anxiety mixed with a bit of depression. That is where the lexapro does great for me. I know the Prozac dont seem to bother the sexual drive much. I havnt taken it but my brother does so does my best friend. They dont seem to have a bit of trouble to hear them talk ! LOL So mabye that is a suggestion?

Now see people tell me I have more to say while i have been taking mine LOL. Like ..ok i used to be really timid. Now that is the last thing I am. LOL. I like myself better but somtimes I should have kept my mouth shut. So its really gonna depend on how you personally feel yourself. I wish I could help you more but your PCP is gonna be the expert on this one.

Dear YMA,

My PCP sent me to a psychiastrist (sp) to work on this because he felt they're more current on the med angle. I found a psych. that I like and he has been very helpful in this area. We had to try a couple of different things before we found what worked for me, but I'm glad I did.

I only have to see him 3x a year for 15 minutes now that things are smooth, so it's not a big hit on my schedule or my finances. So, if you would like my advice it would be to see a good psych since that is their area of expertise. Don't settle for feeling depressed or anxious and please don't try to just stop taking prescribed meds. Wishing you a quick solution and happier days.

Wellbutrin isn't supposed to have any sexual side effects. I take it and it doesn't seem to have a negative effect. Although, right now it is the most horrid thing in the world to cut up and take. Prozac will put you right back in the same situation with the whoopee. Trust me. Paxil is really bad for that too, plus it's really hard to come off of. Hubby is on that. Call your doc, definitely. Stopping these can really mess you up, one of my friends stopped his lexapro and then started having really nasty panic attacks a month or so later out of the blue.

yma, I also suggest you have your PCP refer you to a psychiatrist. Depression seems to get worse temporarily during the rapid weight loss phase, and it sounds as if it's best to have a psych examine you and find out the degree of depression and anxiety to determine the effective meds. You may need a combination, rather than just one med. Therapy may help some, too, not just meds. Also, with a lot of psych meds, constipation is a major problem, so you may need to take laxatives regularly, in any case. Ask both your surgeon and the dr prescribing the psych meds what you can take.
(((((((HUGS))))))) Hang in there, take things one day at a time.

Thanks Guys. Just venting helps. Im actually feeling a bit better. Thats why sometimes I think i dont need meds. I hate taking pills as it is. I want to try to work this out myself.

Plus I think there are things in my life that are contributing to this obviously the surgey screwing up my hormones and bad relationship with my mother that bothers me constantly.

This website is a blessing tho cause there is noone around me that understands my body right now but you guys.

I said in a previous post that I wish i had someone close like Boots and Lisa. But this is the next best thing.

Oh By the way Vickie It is more anxiety for me with mild depression.

THANKS

Forgot to say.
The problem with many psych meds is that you will have some sort of withdrawal reaction if you get off them cold turkey. If you are on the lowest dose, this doesn't happen, but if you are on a high dose, it can. In most cases, you need to be weaned off them. So, the unstable emotions you are experiencing right now may be more from the withdrawal rather than the depression/anxiety itself.
(((((HUGS))))) Hope you can get this resolved soon.
