Default Doc, a ? for you

I am curious what you know about IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer). A friend sent my husband a video clip about this disturbing disease and not one of my friends had ever heard of it, including myself. This is a frightening disease and I wonder why no one ever talks about looking for symptoms for this cancer as well as doing self breast exams. It is so fast moving I would think the medical community would be more interested in getting the info out there.

I understand this is not your field but I was just wondering what you know about it because the information is enough to scare the wits out of you but not enough to give you any idea of how to prevent or spot it.

Thanks for your time.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes, I've heard of it, though I am yet to personally encouter anyone who's been diagnosed with it, and I'll admit I don't know much except that it doesn't form lumps that we know in the conventional way, and it's very much aggressive compared to the "regular" breast cancer.
This is one of the reasons self breast exams are no longer considered enough, and annual mammographies and echograms are recommended.

Thanks for the reply doc. I am glad to hear that you are aware of it. On that video, they state that this form of cancer doesn't make tumors but rather sheets so a conventional mamogram won't show it. They say that an MRI will. I just hope that women worldwide learn of this. It apparently strikes much younger women. There was a 16 year old in the video that died from it.

Thanks Ms Vicki. While we are a WLS website, I can't help but think this is something that people need to be aware of. Any time you want to add to a post of mine, feel free.
