Default Anesthesia question

I know I've asked this before, but I am really excited about the whole thing EXCEPT for being put to sleep. Can anyone tell if ya'll were given something to relax you right after you got to the hospital and were you relaxed when they took you to the operating room. I just keep picturing them taking me to surgery and i'm fully aware and have to get up on that surgery table before they even give me something to relax me. I'm also afraid of the breathing tube. I'm afraid I will know it when they put it in and will wake up with it still in. I'm freaking out.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

yes i got a shot of something lovely!!!! my dr came around to see how i was and started talking about what they'd do next, and i nodded off right then and there EMBARASSING lol! but they do give you something. try to relax. they actually gave me the shot before they even moved me. and any tubes they put in was in and out before i even woke up. never saw the OR, never saw any tubes or anything. it was GREAT! confusing but GREAT! lol!

I agree with my friends above.

As many surgeries as I have had over the years, anesthesia is what I worry about the most, so I can understand your concern.

I am 3.25 months post op, and I was sedated as soon as I was taken into the little room to prepare me for the OR. It was mild, and I was cracking jokes (not something I normally do) with the docs and staff. I remember being wheeled down the hall toward the OR, but I went out like a light during that, and woke up in my room. Skipped right over the recovery room time. If I was awake then, I have no recollection of it.

My husband was the one who had the long day. I was out cold most of the time.

And, incidentally, I really didn't have any pain inside my stomach (which I thought was amazing!). What I did have is soreness around the little incisions (my RNY was laproscopic).

Ok. Bless your heart. Let me explain how mine has always been done. I count 5 times on various things and all have been the same. Im pre op but been under alot before. You dont have to crawl up on a table sweeite. Your on a strecher thing. You just sit on it and lay down. Your IV will be started and all taped up so you dont pull it out. They will take you on the same strecher you sat on. You get to wear one of those hair peice things. I personally like to tuck my hair in and leave my ears showing LOL. So i can hear eveything. The Anetheoligist will come in and talk with ya. Then the Dr. will. They will put somthing in the IV or..... ask if you would like to have somthing to relax ya. Now I dont know if they shave your tummy or not. If so its nothing to it.You may be out before you even go into surgery. Now I have been awake most of the time when they wheel me into surgery because I like it that way.. I like it because I get to see the room! Its usually cold in there so no germs can circulate much. They will place the strecher up against the table and help you move over. You just slide over onto it. They are so nice. Most of them just jolly as can be. They will talk to ya the whole time. They will put a little somthiing into the IV to knock you out. Most of the time place a oxygen mask on you while doing so. Somtimes they just talk to you until your out or ask you to count back. They place the tube after your OUT. Not before. And when you wake up its gone. Its like you never had it in.

Some of the things I just told you might happen in a bit different order for you but for me its been that way every time and at different facilitys. You always can ask for somthing to relax you to. They wont do this however until both Drs have talked with you and you have signed your final consent paper. Just Breathe honey. And try to relax some right now.

Truth is, it's impossible to put the tube down, unless you are out. If you weren't, your gag and cough reflex will prevent the anesthesiologist from putting the tube into the trachea. It will be taken out before you're out of it, because they want to be sure you can breath on your own before you've woken up.
So, you'll be absolutely okay there.
