| Hungry??
What does hunger feel like? SERIOUSLY, I dont think I've ever felt it. Pre-op i ate until I was about to bust at the seams whenever I felt like it. There wasnt any point in the day when i wasnt snacking on something here or there. Now, I don't get an overwhelming urge to eat at all. Now, I'm eating out of routine i suppose so I'm a little lost here. I guess because I'm drinking all day and stay on "FULL" and dont know "EMPTY"?? But, what does it feel like to be hungry? Will I know it when I feel it or is it something I will have to learn?

its amazing how drinking shuts off the hunger!
JUST stick to your pouch rules
and make great eating habits that
you will have for ever.
YES we have to learn to not to eat and eat for no
reason.
HUNGER comes in at different times for post ops...
i know for me i had it all the time, but some might
have been the ulcer bothering my pouch that i didnt
realize i had till nearly a year out.

Am I right in thinking that isn't about your WLS but that you just want to know what it feels like to truly be hungry? If so, here is my take on it.
If you have been out doing yard work all day sweating and burning calories and you haven't eaten, you get this feeling when you physically slow down that you could eat anything! Even things you don't like. You want to stuff yourself so quickly that you don't even taste what you eat. It is a sort of desperation, like you think you are never going to eat again. Or, you may have been at the beach all day, just laying out in the sun and when you get home, you feel like you could eat the raw fish in the fridge that is to be cooked for supper. Or, you haven't eaten in so long that not only does your stomach continually growl, but it actually physically hurts. Your head tells you YOU MUST EAT AND NOW!
Just a few examples but there are many more. I hope you get the idea.

Now I remember my first few months after surgery I was never hungry either. I had to force myself to eat even just a few bites. But boy does it seem to be making up for it now. I seem to be hungry all the time. I eat one moment and than an hour or two later my stomach starts rubling, I get an empty type of sesation in my gut and I feel as if I could eat absoluty anything, but I don't I try to keep fruits, trail mix and healthy things I can take a bite of in the house for times like these. I also seem to notice that on days I seem the hungrest, completely famished I'm losing the most weight. I think it's the starvation factor of the surgery. Believe me I never really understood what it felt like to be hungry either but I've tryed to learn to listen to my body. It takes time and I'm sure I missinterpret it at times but I'm learning.

you could be one of the ones like me whose vagus nerve was cut with the man rowed staple line. I never feel hunger..but I've LEARNED the signs of when my body is 'hungry'. So I 'say' I'm hungry but it's nothing like the hungery I had preop at all.
That a huge part of why I push the idea of eating on a schedule. One to help re-learn when and how to eat but also to make you aware of time passing..I don't go more than 3 hrs without eating something. 4 hrs is a bad bad thing for me.
