| A question for the Doc about chiropractic care after surgery... I called my surgeon's office yesterday to check and see if I could get adjusted by my chiropractor. I have had a sciatic nerve problem for about a year now and was treated by him at least twice a month. I also have crippling migraines that he has basically gotten under control through neck manipulation. Anyway, the nurses there were about as helpful as my surgeon when I asked for B12, and they told me to wait to be released to go back to work. I was like, "that is not an issue, I don't go back for a month and he said I was okay." I asked them to ask him and call me back, but they refused. Anyway, I seem to remember that my husband could not go for 3 months. Do you know how long I should wait? The chiropractor said he would not manipulate me with his hands, but his little silver thing instead. I had the start of a migraine last night and was in tears. In a side note, I think it's time for me to take control of my health - I should not have to beg for B12 or for them to ask the doctor for me. |

I think it would be best to ask your surgeon, actually, as he/she is the one who knows best about your recovery.
If no strenuous treatment is involved, you may be able to go pretty early, but to be on the safe side, it might be better to wait for 3 months or so. At any rate, you should get a release from your surgeon, so no matter how irritating his staff is, just bear down on them, and keep bugging them until you get the answer you need.
((((((HUGS)))))) Hang in there, I hope you'll feel better soon.

Hey there. i hear you on the frustration. I have a question for you though as far as the b12. have you asked your pcp for it?? i was refered to my pcp by my surgeon because he doesnt give the shots. I'm sorry you're having a tough time with your surgeons staff. my surgeons staff was the same way. never let me speak directly to him etc. thats annoying. one day i just showed up because i wasnt getting the answers i needed...and now, when i call they know me by name and transfer me directly stay on them. it will get better.

No, I haven't asked her. She is on vacation this week, but I will ask her as soon as she gets back. I wanted to get one before I left this Sunday, so I think I will just borrow some of Jerry's. Thanks for the advice; I wish I could just walk in. I am 2 hours away, but I am getting ready to call them again first thing in the morning. I need my neck worked on and I want to see if that is a big deal. Thanks, Kenyar!

Hey,
Another thing you can do to make sure the Dr will get the message is this..... send him a fax addressed specifically to him. My PCP's office is the worlds worst for not getting messages to the physicans. So..... I fax a note attention to the Dr and I will recieve a call from the physican them self by days end. Call and ask for there fax number. You wont even need to tell them who you are. Works wonders for me!
