Default Guys Beware Tom Question!!!!!

Ladies (especially Doc)

I know that TOM weirdness is common after surgery, but I've had maybe 7 days with no bleeding at all since surgery, and two full-blown EVIL periods since surgery, and I'm just 5 weeks out (1st period was about a week and a half after surgery - had a week off between 1st and 2nd). Can this be normal for after surgery??? In between I'm having spotting.

I've had weirdness for years, and was on the DEPO shot for a year until last fall and TOM had just started back up, evil as ever before surgery. Now it's back with a vengeance.

I'm seeing my G-man on Wednesday. It was supposed to be to get the Mirena IUD, but I'm thinking not. Right now I'd like to pull out my uterus and stomp on it. If he said the H word I'd be there with bells on right now the way I feel.

Tylenol stinks for evil cramps. Worse than stinks, just plain doesn't work. Doesn't take the edge off, nothing. I'm tempted to try sweet talking him into something STRONG for cramps (maybe something in the percocet family).... I was taking Motrin before it was OTC for cramps when I was just a kid (early bloomer and evil TOMs even back then). I miss my ibuprofen, especially those lovely 800mg pills he used to give me.....WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the whine!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Awwww. Poor thing. for me this surgery regulated me. but my friend who had RNY had her (.) for 3 weeks straight for 3 cycles post op. She did go to the dr, and nothing was prescribed for her. she was told that her body needed time to regulate itself. I think i would have jumped out of a window if that was me lol!

as for the cramps, I never got them pre-op but man are they a KILLER post op. I am just glad that everything is on a schedule for me now. i get cramps for 2 days prior to TOM. Then TOM only lasts for 3 days for me, and I'm back in business right after! It's funny how this changes us all in different ways. HANG IN THERE!!!

PS. Tylenol sucks lol! i had some leftover liquid tylenol with codeine from my discharge from the hospital. i take a spoonful to go to sleep when i have cramps. other than that nothing soothes me at all.

M cycle has changed too. Mine use to be like clock work. Every 28 days to the day. Well now it keeps coming early and earlier. My obgyn had warned me of this and I kinda brushed it off and said not me. Well he was correct. Like the others say, itsnt it wierd how things change. I dont have cramping luckliy but who knows Im only 3 months out. My obgyn said things can change all along. And I do agree Tylenol doenst do diddly poop. I use to take Advil or Motrin before surgery and that worked best for me. But now that is a no no. So I do agree that Tylenol doenst touch it. Hang in there and maybe Doc will be on soon with more advise.

Cindylouwho,

Right there with you, sadly! I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow and on the 2nd (.) already, cramps, bloating and that damn scale says I'm up, but I don't believe it; it's not logical based on my diet and calories! I have the mirena and pre-surgery no (.) for 6 mos.! Loved that!

Now, no Advil, got the (.), spotting, horrible cramps plus the lovely mood swings too and the recent death of my Brother in Law on top! I will get through this and so will you. We can rant together and at some point in the near future it will get better!

In the meantime, nice to be getting healthier and smaller right?

Amy

Thank you so much! I thought my body had finally freaked out beyond belief!!! My friends wife was just diagnosed with Fibroids and it was starting to kind of sound like that.

Sorry for the whining!!!!

(((((Amy))))) I'm having the same trouble... I'm so water logged I stuck my hand in my pants pocket while I was sitting at work last night for a while... and had an indention on my hand for an hour or so I swear!!!!! Last time I tried the scale I was 2lbs up. We'll all laugh at this in a few months...

Awww, (((((((HUGS)))))))) all around.
Unfortunately, you can only ride it out.
Since you've got an appt with the gyn already, just see what that turns up--or doesn't turn up.
For most people, once the weight loss settles, things will settle in that quarter, too. However, you may find the timing of your clock work changed.
Because of the limits you have on which meds you can take, there's not much you can do if Tylenol doesn't do the job, but, even though it's summer, have you tried keeping your lower tummy warm, one way or another? That may help ease the pain a bit, but you won't be able to tell if it will work unless you try it.
Oh, yeah, and water retention is part of PMS, so you'll have to ride that out, too, your weight should whoosh, once you're done with it.

Doc,

Thanks so much! I couldn't figure out how to do the heat because for some reason, the evil cramps seem to get worst when I'm at work, then I remembered those nifty heat patches... They did the trick! I felt so much better!

Something else I noticed last night too, walking seems to help. I don't know if it was just taking my mind off it, but it did seem to feel better...

I promise I'm done whining for the week!!!!

Ive Posted Before About How Bad My Tom Has Gotten And Thus Far It Hasnt Been Any Better, Possibly Worse. Im A Pain Pill Girl When It Comes To My Cramps, But My Doc Told Me To Alternate Pain Pills With Ibuproffen ....... That Didnt Get It Either And Last Month I Found My Worst Yet ( Actually Took Me To My Knees In The Shower ) After Lots Of Tears And Vomitting My Hubby Was Fixing To Take Me To The E.r. But The Pills Started Kicking In And I Was Able To Sleep. I Went Back To My Doc To Let Him Know Of The Nonprogress And He Consulted His Jounals And Put Me On An Arthrits Med Called Etodolac. I Was Skeptic But Gave It A Shot This Month And It Helped --- Alot! I Hope Next Month Gets Even Better. I Dont Know If This Will Work For Everyone In My Case But I Dont Guess It Would Hurt To Discuss With Doc. Good Luck And Best Wishes!
