Yeah, mornings were the absolute worst! And sometimes they still are because I was so addicted to caffeine! But, it will get better. Near the end of the 2nd week, start of 3rd, I started to feel like my old self again. You will feel better every day, Edie.

to be honest, i think it took me about 2 months to settle in somewhat. and even with that said im still not all that settled. i can always seem to come up with a wierd question or a strange experience. even at 3 months out it is all still very new.
In terms of the energy, i strongly believe the b12 shots helped me. no clue what i will do now that my doc wont give them to me anymore, but i'll figure something out.
there are REALLY REALLY good days and some bad days. I havent had either consistantly just yet. its tough when you cant eat much and dont have variety just yet. once you have a variety of foods you can handle you will be able to manage your energy levels by eating certain things. give it time. you will find your way

I agree with both Friendly and Kenya as well. I definitely have bad days and my energy level at the beach was not up to par. (Of course spending 7 hours in the sun didn't help!) But, give yourself some time. I had a friend who thought she would be able to take care of two children under 4 1 week after surgery. She ended up with a stricture twice and still has problems. Everything happens in baby steps, one day at a time, sister.

I know i was my first week out thursday and I feel pritty good but my belly still herts me at times and I stil am just takeing my pain meds at night because i have disconfert when i lay down in my belly. I notice when i do get tired i have to lay down and rest and that all there is to it. I was going to go back to work after 2 weeks but im not going to do that now i am going to stay out almost 4 I really just want to let my body rest and get my self on a good sceduale with my eating.
my body is most important to me and if i feel i need to take more time then that i will. my boss has been so supportive with everything its been great. He told me its more important that i get better then rushing back to work.
I saw all the girls i work with at a party i was invited to i pritty much just stayed for 15 mins but i went. and they also told me just rest they were doing everyting they could do to cover my hours and theres and i thinked them. I am a hair dresser for anyone that dont know. so i think i am going to put a little something together for each of them before i go back a little gift or something. were like a tight knit little family. and are boss is like are grandfother. He is so cute he's 72 and when he get mad at us we feel like we let him down because he is like a grandpa to us

not all surgeons require b12 .....
i was not told to keep it up
and was only put on it as a precaution
when i had numbness issues. My
blood work shows up fine and no
difficiencies in that area.
EVERY surgeon has different protocals.
I went on the nascobal for a bit
but honestly found no difference
in my energy so i stopped it being
i am not deficient.
I always take my multi vitamin and
rarely forget that.

Hey Jerry!
Not everyone is required to take b12 or even the shot. I was getting them once a month because the sublingual pills werent really doing anything for me in terms of energy levels. I was getting VERY tired and dragging and just didnt feel "good" for a while. but now that my labs are in and i am not showing a deficicency, my dr is no longer willing to give them to me. WHICH IS INSANE...but whatever. I'm switchin docs anyway lol!

I just read thru some of my old journal entried last night and i really think that due to the trauma your body has undergone most of your energy is being used to heal. so the more you rest the better you will feel. i think i was taking naps every couple of hours the first few weeks. i wrote about that in my journal. on a side bar, its good to keep a journal about your experiences. so you know how far out this or that happend. its very helpful to look back on, especially when questions come up.
Have a good day edie!

Jerry, some doctors just require you to take B-12 supplements unless your bloodwork shows that you need more. Mine is one of those but they are very specific about which B-12 you can take because of the absorption issues.
Kenya, I agree that journalling is a remarkable help. Not only to you, but if you publish your journal online, it will help others that are thinking of having the surgery.
