Default Did anyone have to take a test?

When I get a few of my clearances and after my first visit with the surgeon I have to go for a class. It contains pre and post op care and diet , I have to get at least a 90 on this test or my surgery will be postponed. I have been reading the binder over and over and taking notes and stuff but I was wondering if any of you also had to take a test before your surgeries.??????

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I didn't have to take a test for that but I did at my NUT appointment. LOL. I do know someone that did. So I rang her up and asked. She said its to make sure you understand the surgery. What is required of you before and after. She said you wouldn't believe the people that just don't pay attention and just want it done. She seemed to think since you have been reviewing it you would be fine. Actually I think its a great thing. I wonder if its anything like what the Nut Dr gave me and graded it right in front of me. My surgeon required this. I had to make a 90 on mine to. He gave me stuff to take home and read.

Good luck with this.

YEP i had to take it just before i had my surgery it was done my last appointment before the big day.
THAT was to be sure i fully understood all the ups, downs, risks and everything associated with this journey. ANYTHING i got wrong me and the doctor discussed.
NOT sure the full purpose of it but it was about 50 q's multiple choice thing.
I didnt sweat it

I start the classes on Monday, and I am told the last class, 6 months from now, includes a test that must be passed before the medical group clears the insurance for surgery. (here in So. Cal. is mainly managed care medicine...all surgeries, except life saving emergencies, require authorization from a review committee from the medical group.)

If the test is to confirm your knowledge and understanding, personally, I think it's a good thing. As in Lisa's case, the surgeon can go over point on point with the patient to reaffirm things.
Think of it as a kind of detalied informed consent stuff. With informed consent, you are required to read everything, and asked if you understand, then sign, but there is no process to actually cofirm that you DO understand. Just your word and signature. This way, the surgeons can actually confim the extent of your knowledge, and also, in taking the test, you may realize you have quetions that you didn't think you had until then.

Good luck on your classes and test.

Yep, I had to take a test at my last appointment before surgery to. And it was just to make sure I understood as well. I wouldn't worry to much about it expecially if you ahve actually been reading, listening and preparing yourself for this. This test isn't to trick you or set you up for failure it's just to help the doctors to know that you are truly prepared for this.
