Question Bad Headaches

Okay, I thought we might have found the reason for my really bad headaches -- sleeping propped up instead of prone -- but that did not prove out last night. I got another really bad one at around 1 am. I mean these headaches are severe (at least in my history). I can't hardly open my eyes. It takes a Vicodin, an ice pack and about two hours before they subside. Has anyone else experienced these types of really bad sleep headaches out of surgery?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i cant say that i have. are you getting in your fluids? also, have you ever had mirgaines? sounds pretty close. i used to have those. sensative to light, sometimes nauseous (sp) well that was pre-op. i havent had one since to be honest. i still thinks you might be going thru withdrawl. carbs and caffeine are hard to kick at the same time. rest well. if it persist why not give your doc a call.

I was going to say the same thing as Kenyar. It sounds like it might be migranes. A few people have complained of getting them post op.
If it's migraine, then Vicodin won't work, and it's best not to continue with it, considering the addictive quality that it has.
Talk to your dr, not necessarily your surgeon, I think your PCP will be fine, but in any case, you need medication specific to migrane if that's what it turns out to be.

I feel sorry for you guys in the US as you cant get Paracetomal i dont understand why there banded it's the best for head aches. I've been taking the soluble ones since i got out of hospital. I also agree with Kenyar and the Doc about the fluids. I used to get head aches even before the surgery if i hadn't drank enough. You could also try Camomile Tea.

I have suffered from Migraines since I was 12. Its taken me years to figure out what sets mine off. It may take you a while to.

If I even smell Disel fuel from a truck or car its immediate for me. Very rarely Can get out of the way quick enough to not cause one. Red wine is a horrible culprit of mine to. Honey if they keep up ask your PCP for Zomig Nasal Spray. You dont have to swallow a pill that way and it does help. Maybe its your body being detoxified from the stuff we used to eat? Or if you used to have caffine on a daily basis and now are not getting it will cause one. Im ready to have one acutually. Let me explain. Your not supposed to have nothing to eat or drink after midnight before any type of surgey. If i have to stay in the hosptial...... I always get a headache in the evening or night time from not having any caffine. Perhaps this is the cause? I dont know im just trying to be helpful. Cool clothes on the head and nice quiet cold rooms seem to help me out alot when mine flare up.

It could be you are going through carb withdrawal. If you can't get in your water for more than 2 days, though, you should call your surgeon again.

Smile Caffine & Headaches

I know you all warned me not too, but I guess I'm just contrary sometimes. I had a little 50/50 caffine coffee yesterday morning, probably not more than 2 or 3 oz all together and then had a White Tea/Blueberry Crystal Light which has about 20g of caffine in it. Last night I slept through the entire night with ABSOLUTELY NO HEADACHE!!

I can't tell you how great that was. I guess it was the caffine withdrawal. So glad my pouch allowed me to have just a little without side effects except for burping, but i can live with that versus the headache! Actually now that I think about it, I'm burping with everything that goes down, even water, go figure! Anyway, I'm glad to say that I'm glad we are all different -- I really could not have functioned with those headaches and now I feel quite energized because of the good sleep. Needless to say, I had just a little more coffee this morning after my protein shake and boy was it good!
