Angry Itchy

Okay, so I know that when your wounds heal they start to itch, but it seems as though my whole body itches lately at times. It is driving me insane. Sometimes I feel as though I will burn up all my calories just from scratchin....hehehe. Did anyone else experience this post op?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Fat cells store up not only fat, but unwanted and sometimes harmful chemicals as well. Now that the fat in your fat cells are melting away (sorry, but your fat cells are gonna stay, it's just the fat in the cells that are melting off you), the chemicals stored within the fat will also be released. These could be the cause of your itching. In any case, if it continues, ask your PCP or your surgeon about it, and if they can prescrbe medication to make it bearable.

Thanks everyone. I am sorry about dissapearing a bit lately, but my computer had been haveing issues with booting me off constantly so I haven't been able to get back on until today. The itching is calming down, so I am not too worried. I do remember that when I exercise sometimes my muscles itch. I was once told by someone that it means that the muscles are working and burning fat. Is this what you are talking about Doc? I haven't been as good about being active the past couple of days. I have been feeling pretty bummed in general and feeling sluggish. I was hoping to get out and about today some with Jolie, but the weather is rainy today and bumming me out. I will settle for the fat in my fat cells disolving personally. Thanks for being there you guys.

For me it was my skin and it felt like the meat under my skin that itched. My PCM suggested using vaseline from head to toe every day after showering and gave me a prescription-atarax for the times when it was really bad. The vaseline worked better for me than the pills, they just made me sleepy not itch less

same problem as the atarax it just puts me to sleep but the vaseline seems to work better the longer I use it and my plastic surgeon says it helps a teeny tiny bit with the retraction of my skin( please note the teeny tiny LOL)

Interesting- when my thyroid went wacky I itched all over too. Just one more possibility if it doesn't go away. (it was mostly my hands and feet)
