I was told it was in the left lower rib cage area

Place your fist in the middled, right below the middle of your breast, where your ribs give way, and it feels soft. That's probably the place you are pressing right now, right? The top protion of the stomach is about a fist to the left. Since the pouch is made from the top protion of the stomach closest to the cardia (the entrance to the stomach from the esophagus), your pouch is in the same place. Remember, your pouch is just stapled off from the rest of the stomach, not cut off, so the location is the same as any old regular stomach.

Probably not, it probably is part of the "full" sensation, but ask your surgeon anyhow, just to be sure.

when I get full, especially if I water load before I eat. My pouch sticks out like a small deck of cards at that spot the Doc described. If I don't water load then I get an uncomfortable feeling lower down, but mine is more off to the side (L) of the midline between belly button & the pouch. But, my "guts" are kind of like a tornado shape as seen on the small bowel series that they did. The tech girl of the 5 people that came in to look that it was "wild looking"..*rolls eyes* but normal for -me-
