i dont remember seeing it unless it was on discovery health or tlc, this was on regular tv. i mean...i dunno. maybe i am blowing it out of proportion...

Yes It Was On Regular Tv Mostly During The Week In The Daytime. I Def Remember Them Before I Even Went Thru This Process.
It Has It Positives And Negatives. If It Made Me Think It Might Help Someone Else Think On The Other Hand I Do Agree That It Could Get A Bad Rap

Kenya I saw those before I had surgery thats what got me to thinking about WLS AGAIN. I remember years ago like 10 when they had commercials on TV for Gastric Bypass...It said if you were over 100 pounds over weight to call this number and see if you qualify. That was when I was in Tx

They tend to push the commercials here and have big billboards all around with it. There tends to be a lot of fly by night type places opening on every corner. MONEY is not the factor in this surgery, but a lot of places are saying come to us and we will charge you less. Even though we have never done this before. Really scary thought there!

ok so....i ws thinking about this all night and i have to say that i am bothered by it more than i thought. i think on the one hand its good because it gets people to think about WLS, but the question is WHO does it get to think about it and WHAT are they thinking?? that its easy and doesnt require "approval"?? that you can just decide to do it and have it done and all you do is sit back and lose weight??
i think this isnt something that should be marketed. it isnt like buying an appliance. its life changing and should be looked at seriously. i think a commercial might protray this like a magic bullet and that the WRONG way to present this. im a little distrubed by it lol. can you tell? im really worried for the next wave of people looking to have WLS. i know how ill informed i was about the psych portion, but i think if i would have seen a commercial for this pre-op i would be even more worse off than i am now....i think. i dunno.
