Exclamation Carbs? What is up with that?

I'm seeing a ton of threads on Carbs and them being so bad for you but when I spoke to my doctor and dietician, they did not have the same ideas about carbs. They have me doing more then I had expected. Mind you they are whole grain carbs but they are still carbs. Is there a reason why I should be avoiding them like the plague?

Mind you I have not been able to eat them till very recently. Literally since my last checkup in the beginning of August. The whole wheat toast has been a delight to have again. I missed bread almost as much as chocolate but I know that will never be allowed. At least not for me as that was an obsession and can not be allowed in my diet ever again.

Thanks, Shari

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

The talk about carbs is mostly the craving that it starts causing with some people.
If you can do well with the allotted carbs and not crave more, that's fine, but some people do have carb addiction, so try to keep it to not more than 100g per day. The thing is, processed carbs are often *hidden* in processed food, so you sometimes get too much in unknowingly. That's another reason many people read labels and avoid carb laden food.

Also, early out post op, it is almost impossible to get in that much carbs anyway, but further out, when you can eat a lot more, if you eat carbs first, that will likely get in the way of getting in the amount of protein you need.
