Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | should whole grains make a difference? I mean, i am VERY sensative to carbs. so i switched from white stuff to whole wheat stuff...but this morning i had 4 whole wheat crackers with some cheese. and i felt myself drifting off to la la land shortly thereafter. is it what i eat or what i am eating it with? was it not enough protein to balance it out? when i feel myself drifting what do i do? do i take in some more protein? or just lay back until its over? LOL! should i just avoid carbs altogether? something with the whole nutrition thing is still not clicking for me. i thought i would have had all of this figured out by now... |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | oh 15g serving = 5 crackers. it says 5 on the box this is the label from online... maybe 11g of carbs is too high? but i thought if they were whole grains it was ok. very confusing. |

| Super Moderator | Even with whole grain, when it's broken down, the final form is glucose among other things, and glucose is the culprit that causese hypoglycemia. Whole grain is good in that it has fiber and other things along with the main carb, so it takes more time to break down, plus prevents the carb from being absorbed 100%, in other words, not all of the carb is absorbed. However, if you eat it in the amount that what is absorbed of the total carb is the same as with processed food with refined sugar, you are going to get sleepy. In other words, if processed food with 4g refind sugar does you bad, the amount of carb that equals that even if the origin is whole grain, it is likely to give you the sleepies. So you need to be careful of your total intake, even with whole grain. And, yes, nuts work that way, they first ask you how much of what you have been eating to calculate where you have got it right, and what needs to be corrected. There isn't really any strict dietary requirement with WLS as there is with other diets, with the exception of taking all your supplements and nutrients, keeping up with protein and fluids. Other than that, eating in good balance and portion control, reasonable portions, no exact what in how much amounts, is what this surgery is, food wise.
