| What's wrong with my scale?
I lost 11 pounds the first week after surgery, BUT NOTHING SINCE!
What am I doing wrong? Here's what I did & ate yesterday:
Got up and walked 1.75 miles
painted the deck for 4 hours
5 oz Atkins protein shake
4 oz cottage cheese
1/4 banana w/ 1/2 T LF peanut butter
2 oz of pureed pork and 2 oz potato-cheddar soup
2 oz meatloaf and 2 oz instant mashed potatos
1/4 banana w/ 1/2 T LF peanut butter
564 cal, 25 fat, 39 carb, 49 protein
As you can see, I'm eating meats just fine - I'm eating ANYthing just fine. I know I need to get my protein higher, I've added unjury to my shake this morning. I get a stomach ache if I go over 5 oz so I know my pouch is small, but no vomiting or dumping on anything I've eaten.
I feel great for most of the day but hit a wall around 2:00 or 3:00 and that's it, I'm wiped out. I'm sleeping 8 hours and feel very rested.
Everything is GREAT except that scale hasn't moved!!! Am I eating too much? Eating the wrong stuff? HELP!!!!
BTW: I found a great peanut butter at Target:
Better'n Peanut Butter by Wonder Foods
serving 2 Tbs:
Fat.........2.5g
Poly........1g
Mono......1g
Cholest.....0
Sodium..190mg
Carb.......13g
Fiber.......0
Sugars....2g
Protein....4g

| Hang in There!
Personally, I think you are doing fantastic. By looking at what you have been eating, it is basically all good stuff. I believe that to be one of the hardest things to accomplish....eating the right foods. Still a struggle for me, even after more than a year out. Are you losing inches maybe, Barbie? Even the exercise is great. Hang in there, you will start to lose once again. I promise you. With me, one day, and the next day, and maybe even the next day after that, I would not lose anything. Of course, I got frustrated, but then BOOM!, I would get on another day, and a literally a few pounds would be gone. Of course, that made me feel GREAT, and gave me what I needed to continue my journey. I am sure that is the case with you also. Great job with your eating, and exercise though. YOU GO GIRL! mike

Okay, so you are less than 2 weeks out at the moment.
The problem with lap surgeries, is, I've noticed, because of the small incisions and the quick healing on the surface, a lot of you have a hard time realizing what a major surgery this actually was, in medical terms. In other words, you don't have a large incision going up and down the middle of your tummy, reminding you that you are still in the healing stage. If you had such a large incision, you will see that it was still red and tender, even if the scar was closed. In some cases, you would still have a few staples. And that is how your insides still are. In the healing stage. You know I keep on repeating the mantra that it takes 3-4 months for your insides to heal completely.
During that time, the first thing your body is going to do, is NOT lose weight, but TO HEAL. In other words, everything will be focused on healing first. Losing the weight is far down the scale of priority for your body at the moment.
So, let your body take time to heal. Don't bother with the scale, throw it out, and have yourself weighed in only at your drs. In the mean while, just keep a score of how much easier it is for you to move around, how much lighter you feel, and how much loser your clothes are becoming. That's a much better measure to go by.
You'r doing fine, and you will continue doing fine.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

It sounds like you are doing great. I compared some of the numbers with what my nut suggests. They told me to try to limit sugars to no more than 10 g a day. I'm also being very selective on the carbs, as they tend to make me more hungry!
