Default Can the pouch shrink?

The last couple of days I've been having a weird problem that I have not experienced before and I'm wondering if anyone else has?

I haven't been able to eat as much as I normally was. I get maybe one quarter of the way through something and I start to get the burps really bad and then I can't eat anymore. Sometimes I even get like liquid foamies from stuff that I used to eat without problems? After I stop eating in about 30 minutes the full feeling goes away but if I try to eat again I can't.

Can our pouches shrink? I don't feel any pain or problems if I'm not eating, but I'm concerned because its like the pouch isn't letting me eat very much at all. Maybe 1 oz at a time at most?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey Jill. Me and you are in the same boat. I have been doing that for the past couple of days and last night I had a bad spell after I eat some grilled chicken with italian seasoning. My mouth started watering and it took everything I had to keep from vomiting. I haven't eaten any supper tonight, I tried but couldn't do it so I'm drinking a protein shake.

Thanks -- it really helps to know that what I'm going through --someone else has either gone through or is going through. That's whats so comforting about all of you and this site. It is a place to go and know that someone online knows what you're going through. Thanks again -- have a great night!

That is too funny!!! I have been doing the same thing all week. I am eating about half as much as I was 2 weeks ago!!! And after I stop eating, I can feel it right there in my throat. I wa worried that something was wrong, but now I see that you all are going through it. I have actually been eating more of the softer stuff lately because of that.

Just to clear things up.
Jill, you are still healing, it's only a month or so since your surgery, so your pouch will act u from time to time.

Now, your pouch won't physically shrink, as it is made of the portion of the stomach that is structurally stable. However, it will *shrink* in the sense that, if you have a stricture, you won't be able to keep food and liquids down, so if you find that you are constantly, get in touch with your surgeon.

Hope you are feeling better this morning.

I went thru that a lot. But I started taking a pepcid about 1/2 hr before each meal and now I am fine. I think it was air in me somewhere and it would try to push the food back up or make me feel full. Just my experience but may not be for any of yours. It's worth a try. Mattie

hmmm. i think i missed some of what you wrote the first go round...burps and what not...hmmm. maybe you should call your doc. i think there was someone on here who was burping A LOT and wasnt eating much and it ended up being stricture...

i mean some days i feel like my pouch is WAY SMALLER than a golf ball LOL and other days I am embarassed about how much I can put away, but i can honestly say i never foamed unless i didnt chew, and ive never puked hardcore.
