Default I Feel Guilty...

Okay, I started Curves about 6 weeks ago. I had been a member b/4 but hurt my knee and hadn't been in about 6 months. Well, I went back and started back up. I told them i had dropped out because of my knee and that I had surgery on it in June. I didn't tell them about the WLS. Didn't think it was their business and didn't want to be judged by the size 4 lady at the counter.

Well anyway, they weigh and measure you once a month. Well they weighed me and measured me and got all excited because of my loss in lbs and inches. I was the top "loser" of the month. Now I am on a guilt trip. I feel like such a faker. But I really don't want to confess to them about the surgery. Now its not like I am a poster child or anything. They just made a big deal out of it.

They will weigh and measure me again in 2 weeks and I am dreading it already.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Do you really want them to weigh and measure you? It's ok to say no, thank you if you dont. The curves I went to had a cow about my weight loss too. Incidentally, I used to work the front desk of a weight loss clinic (ironic!!!) and one of our patients was a WW leader who was finding it really difficult to maintain without our assistance. I'm not sure why that's funny to me but it is....

Thanks guys.

Clancy -- That is funny about the WW leader. Not sure why either. Maybe because when I went they didn't have any sympathy or compassion about my ups and downs.

Hey Becka --- girl I just noticed -- your almost half way to your goal. Congrats and a Big Way to GO!

Ladyhawk, I have a question about Curves. Do you think someone with severe arthritis in their knees, hips, and feet would benefit from their program? I am interested in checking it out but wonder how much of the program involves running, etc. Thanks for any help!

There isn't any running. You can walk in place between the exercise machines or some people just move their arms in movements to keep their heart rate up. Most of the machines are resistance. I have arthirtus in my hips and I don't have any trouble with the equipment. You should go visit one and take a look around and maybe try some of the machines. They will let you look around prior to joining.
