Question Why did this make me sick?

Last night for dinner I had half of a Lean Cuisine Herb Chicken and Potatoes meal. I got the worst gas pains! Gas-X didn't help at all, nothing worked until I broke down and took 2 percoset (left over from the surgery). What was wrong with this meal?

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i just think maybe it didnt agree. the pain may not have been gas. your pouch just could have been "angry" sometimes things happen with absolutely no rhyme or reason. im sorry you had this pain. i hate when wierd things happen with no explanation.

Thanks Kenya.

The pain wasn't just in my pouch - it was all over my stomach and lower back, which is why I thought it was gas. It hurt to even lift my head! It really hurt. I'm one of those people who never takes pain meds (which is why I have so much left over from the surgery) so for me to take two meant I was in incredible pain.

Default Hello Barbie!

I believe that it just simply did not agree with ya. Doesn't that seem weird though? One day a person can eat something, and BOOM!, the very next day it doesn't. Sometimes, I will eat something that I have been eating forever, with no problems, and then, OH MY GOD!, I to, will get the worst stomach pain for about 20-30 minutes after I eat it, that I have ever had. I blame it sometimes, on the fact that maybe I shoveled it in too fast. Alot of times, I will put a load in, not thinking that I cannot possibly swallow all that food, I will take a few times to swallow what I got in my mouth. I usually tell myself, "WHAT A FREAKIN OINKER!", and try not to do it again. I know that yours was not just in the stomach though. I would just keep an eye on things after you eat them.....just in case. No harm in that. Personally, I think it did not agree, but you never know. That feeling is not a good one, if it even is remotely the same as mine. HANG IN THERE BARBIE! mike

Thanks everybody. I do feel better today but I'm pretty scared of trying to eat anything. Still having little twinges every once in awhile. I had a quiche for breakfast and it went OK.

It's just so frustrating to eat something that you believe will be OK and then have that happen. I mean, I'd be OK with that kind of reaction if I knew I had eaten something I shouldn't have - live and learn. But I was being good. SIGH

It could just be a grouchy pouch day but it could be something in the preservatives of the dinner. I could usually eat most of the lean cuisine meals prior to surgery but did at times have one or two that would really stir up my intestines.

I've found that there are some "prepared" food items that don't work for me while the real thing does. Like mashed potatos -- I can eat real potatos, boiled, mashed, etc... -- but if I prepare the potato buds I get sick? Perhaps its something they use in the preservatives? I don't know but I'm trying to stick with fresh foods for the most part.
