Default Vitamins & Supplements and drinking

I've just been thinking about the vitamins and supplements we have to take on a daily basis and was wondering.......

When we eat, we're supposed to wait X amount of time before starting to drink fluids.

Why shouldn't that be the same for the supplements we take?

The reason I ask is that I pretty much struggle with the taste of the chewable stuff and I take a swig or two of water with them and continue drinking as normal straight after.

Isn't that just washing them straight through? DOC?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I have also done this and wondered the same thing, also with the protein shakes, they seem to go right through too.

Pills are supposed to dissolve with water and be absorbed, so it's a bit different from food. It should be fine so long as you don't take very large amounts of water in a short time.

Be careful about taking meds with coffee or tea, as their ingredients sometimes interfere with absorbption, or break up the vitamins/medication and change them into substances that are ineffective.
Water, whether cold or warm (not too hot) is best.

I haven't started taking anything yet. Isn't it about a month out that you begin everything?

Chrysty,

My instructions were to start the multivitamins and b-12 on day 3 post-surgery and the calcium citrate 3 weeks from the date of surgery.

I'm interested to hear what everyone else was told.

Christy, that is going to depend on your surgeon...mine had me start all chewable vitamins at my 1 week follow up. My surgeon gives out an extensive packet of info.
