| Does anyone use Stevia? I moved to splenda a long time ago when I can that is. I use it in baking and stuff a lot but I also use Stevia. Again I got this from my thyroid forums. It is a natural plant sweetener that goes back to the Indians if you have never heard of it. It is very sweet you only need a small small amt in your tea or what ever. My question is do any of you use it? I was wondering if anyone has used it with bad effects. I have quite a bit of this and was hoping that I can still use it after surgery. I was thinking yesterday when I was putting it in my iced tea that ohhh well you only need about a 1/16th of a teaspoon in a large cup of anything. And its even sweeter in hot stuff. But then I thought well it seems that even very small amounts of things can make the pouch grumpy so I thought I would ask around and see if I find anyone else that uses this. I hope I can use this yet I like it better because it is a natural sweetener with not chemicals or calories in it and I thought well it has not relation to regular sugar at all so it shouldn't make me dump..But then again..lol you never know..

| I like it because it is natural and has been used for a long long time. And you know ppl like the FDA say it needs more testing sheesh its been used for hundreds of years what more do they need..lol.. I know it doesnt pay to go against the nutrasweet or splenda ppl..

My nut recommended this, but I just never tried it. I have seen it at the grocery store I think. Maybe it is something to look into. I am an Equal user...anything BLUE! I used to use this stuff by Dixie Crystal call Sweet Thing and I loveddddd it, but I can not find it anymore. I did mange to find a can at Big Lots...which only means that they probally dont sell it anymore. LOLOL Just my Luck!

stevia is really big in australia so I used it quite a bit there.
yes you use a small amount in a cup of liquid and then you use amounts from that cup of mixed stevia and water to sweeten. It's very very sweet and if you use too much it overwhelms the taste buds and you taste it as 'bitter' instead of sweet.
You can find it in health food stores in bottles that have the mix already so you just use a couple of drops.

| Well.... I'm a bit of a "health & wellness" freak....so I've gone to a TON of organics...whole foods and naturals....rather than artificial, diet, fat free, etc. I LOVE LOVE LOVE stevia....use it ALL THE TIME! I haven't had any ill-effects! I use both the small packets as well as the bottled dropper liquid form (which I love the best...esp. in my hot teas...etc. - I keep the little bottle in my purse! LOL) Anyway...I think you'll be fine most likely....(even though we all all different) it is a 'natural product' from a leaf.... Good luck in finding all the info you need! |

| I am glad to hear that you use it with no problems, I was hoping to keep using it after my surgery. I do love it in tea too. And you are right a lot of people use way to much at first and then go ewwwwwww bitter. It takes getting used to that you only need a tiny bit..Even when you use the packets and you get a small wiff of it in your mouth it is sooo sweet...
