Default Muscle spasms in my abdomen

I had RNY gastric bypass in September 06. A couple months ago, I started getting muscle spasms in my abdomen at the top of my rib cage under my breast bone. They're not painful, but are uncomfortable. The spasms last from 30 minutes to several hours. I can see the jumping through my shirt.

I haven't noticed a pattern of when they happen. One time, I ate a small slice of no-sugar added pumpkin pie (without the crust). That one was one of the worst and lasted for several hours. I ate another slice the next day to see if that was what triggered it and it didn't happen. Sometimes it happens when I wear a compression garment and sometimes it doesn't.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something I need to worry about or have checked out? I would really appreciate you experiences and suggestions.

Thanks!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i get it and often. USUALLY when it starts i doo take a gas x and it usually doesnt help but i for me...eating helps. I think when there is nothing for the stomach to churn it does this and its sucks!
u ARE THE first person i have ever heard complain of this!cause i get it now and then. FIRST time i had it happen was microwave popcorn early out. but when it starts
these spasms which for me are off to one side i find eating has been my best fix usually a cracker...
(((HUG))) for me i never found its the food i eat but something that happens and i have had this for 2.5 years off and on....and when it happens its hard to even breath!

I have this also muscle spasm in the abdomen I was actually in the hospital with them for 2 days not so long ago for me these have proven to be by fare the most painful and uncomfortable part of my journey. MY surgeon proscribe a muscle relaxer and loratab for it if i need them i only use it when its very bad.

He told me it had something to do with all of the layers that they have to go through

when mine spasms it is almost like my hole belly blots up and then goes down its kind of gross.

I have tried eating something when it happens. I've also tried drinking some hot tea. Neither helped. I think if I took Loritab, I wouldn't care if my stomach was jumping or not

Im sorry your having this happen to you. I have had a couple of them. When telling my surgeon about it, he told me to just relax. Easier said than done but it seemed to help once I got my body to obey what my mind was telling it. Good luck with this. I just dont have any other advice on it. Take care honey.

Wow! - I've had a burning type muscle cramp left of my belly button since coming out of surgery. It seems that it's gets worse depending on how I move. I hurt so badly one night, I couldn't get out of bed. Has anyone else experienced the burning sensation

LSU Fan, it's probably surgical pain since your surgery was about a week ago. If it gets worse, talk to your surgeon. My surgery was over a year ago. I really appreciate everyone's reply.

I had really bad muscle spasms but for about two days when I was in the hospital. My surgeon also said it was because of the layers of muscle they had to cut through. I am sorry you have these on a continuing basis. Call your surgeon and chat with him.
Good Luck!
