Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  |  Swallowing Pills When can I start taking pills the normal way? All the pills I take now are chewables or sublingual (b12) but I have one that I need to take and it's not a chewable. It's small and I can break it in half or even in quarters to swallow it, but I can't stand to crush it and put it in something to take it. It makes me gag. I know I can call my doc, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight. Thanks! |

AT least if it gets stuck and he cleared you he will know you followed his rules. I know for me to this day my surgeons rule is pills should no bigger then an m & m...... crushed pills are nasty i will admit for that i weaned off my pain meds fast post op. hugs!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I think I was 6-8 weeks out, I still cant swallow big ones (like the calcium tabs) I use the petites or cut if needed, also the thick ones are hard for me to swallow - I don;t know why since I swallowed just fine pre-op, maybe coz I cant have gulps of water to wash it down. Crushed pills makes me gag too.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was swallowing pills in the hospital the morning after sugery (I take estrogen, and it's not a pretty sight when I haven't had my hormones...TRUST ME ON THIS!!!) I plan on continuing with my chewable vitamins..I actually like them (I use bariatric advantedge chewable multi, calcium and iron!) I know they are geard toward WLS patients and more easily absorbed....I swallow my estrogen, actigall, biotin, & prilosec every day....and tylenol when the need arises! |
