| Getting ready for pureed foods- yum!
Is there any particular meat/ veggies/ fruits that i should stay away from or be careful with?
Does pureed foods include FRESH fruit and veggies or just the "soft" canned types?
Also is lettuce or leafy greens ok at this stage if pureed?
Or is it "fair game" to pretty much try what i want (low/no fat, carbs or sugar foods) and if it can be pureed, then it is good to go?
*I'm going shopping for food and I want to get the right stuff

Hi Nygal! We had surgery on the same day. I was put on pureed food a couple weeks ago. I can have chicken, fish, turkey, a couple of canned veggies, yogurt, cottage cheese, protien drinks, egg beaters and little mashed potatoes here and there. You will receive a food list from your doctor as to what is right for you. I suggest you stick to it. Our pouches aren't quite ready for trial and error yet!! Good luck and take care.

my list is very basic-- just says "meat/poultry" and "fruit and veggies".
i assume my nutritionist thinks this might be enough details -
lol

Hey "roomy"! lol - so how are you doing with all this? I have no regrets and would do it all over again.
Do you still get "twinges" of pain in your abs? I do- but they are more like aches.
But sometimes i get a stab of pain here and there- but it goes away very fast. Typically i get it under the right or left breast/rib area.
WOW!! you got on purred foods a few weeks ago?
Jeez i'm still on stage 2... pretty much shakes, liquids, jello and farina!!
lol
Ugh... well my doc is playing safe i guess, so i stick with it and i do appreciate it-- he is the very best (no offense to your doc of course!)
It is just that my meal plan is very general and does not specifiy types of meats/poultry/fruit/veggies... so i am left to guess. I feel funny asking him so many "stupid" questions...
But my feast is coming soon enough-- my next step is puree and i will feel like i am really eatting Quote:

You're on your way!!!! This is when it starts becoming "real". Just take your time, don't try too many things at once. That way you will know what and what not your pouch can tolerate.

I wouldn't do any salads, even pureed, they take up room in the pouch which you need for protein. Pretty much the same for fruits - though you need to try to get some in if you don't want to be fightiing contipation. Bananas and peaches worked best for me.
A lot of us had problems with processed food so buy in small quantities until you know you can eat it. If you have the time, cook veggies from fresh and then puree them.
Good luck finding protein at this stage. I did a lot of refried beans and cottage cheese.
Oh, and warning - ge LOW FAT peanut butter. I tried the regular JIF and was in such pain!

I love salad, but I am not sure how you would puree it. Hack, I have a hard time chewing it to mush. Lettuce just wasn't made to chew so much.......but I do it!
