Default Vitamins & Supplements

Hi, Everyone. My surgeon has not directed me to take many supplements. He had me start out with two chewable childrens vitamins a day and then after one month he had me start on a multi vitamin. He never suggested calcium or any other supplements. I asked him about the calcium and he said the multi vitamin wil have enough. In reading the posts it seems other people have been directed to take lots of other supplements.

What supplements do you take and what dosages? I want to make sure I am getting everything I need.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I take 2 multi vitamins and 2 calcium citrates a day.....I take a b12 every other day, and I'm about to add iron in as well. I take prilosec...but only for 3 more months...and actigall (to keep me from developing gall stones)....I also syntrax nectar protein or PROFECT bullets.

I use Bariatric advanatedge, as my doctor does not believe in the childrens chewables or tums/proactiv etc...my nut indicated we MUST have calcium citrate (as carbonate does not absorb well). You can buy bariatric advantage here on the site in the estore

Thanks ladies. I have been worried because I take so little. I am going to add the calcium. I did get a B12 shot from my PCP. How often were you getting them when you got them Kenya?

I am stil trying to find a protein that I can manage without gagging. The Profect Bullets are way too sweet for me. Does anyone have any suggestions of a protein shot that is not sweet?

Oh and also, my surgeon only had me taking Prilosec for one month. I took my last one today. Has anyone had trouble with quitting the priolosec so early?

Prilosec is good for keeping the acid down in the beginning for your healing. As for supplements, I take one childrens chewable a day, 1000 mg B12, and 100 mg Calcium Citrate, not Carbonate, supposedly we can only absorb the Citrate.

I take 1200mg Calcium citrate (Citracal petites - easier to swallow), 1 Centrum silver chewable, and am starting the Biotin as my hair is thinning. Will consider iron if needed but I'm post-periods so they say it may not be necessary. Does anyone know the right amount of Biotin recommended?

Okay. I KNOW this is going to be a stupid question - but are the supplements expensive? On one hand, you aren't eating, but I'm just wondering how much it is going to cost compared to what I spend now.

Anyone have any idea how cost compares after to what it was before?

Thanks.
