| It shouldn't matter but......
I was wondering if any of you still have the odd cocktail. I occassionally like to sit down with the girls and have a couple of glasses of wine and chat. It is such great bonding time and I cherish it. I often do not drink in social settings but during my time with the girls I love to get on a little glow and laugh like we were in highschool.
Will I still be able to do this. I have read that may post op's drink no alcohol at all and it is recommended to not drink at all to ensure long term success. I have also read that one glass of wine is equivalent to 5 due to our new body absorption system. - Is this true?
Will I have to give up my few glasses of wine with the girls. I am willing to do what it takes, but I definetely would miss this.

Well Yes It Is True I Also Heard About 1 Glass Is Like Having 5. I Havent Drank Since I Had The Surgery But I Might During The Holidays. I Did Have Some Nyquil That Hit Me Like A Ton Of Bricks Though. Lol
You Can Still Go Out And Have Fun Without The Drinks Or Just Sip It Real Real Slow And Dont Be The One To Drive. I Guess You Will Find Out How It Hits You When You Have A Drink. But I Would Wait A While Till After Surgery.
Good Luck Your Day Is Almost Here

I was at an anniversary party last nite and talked my husband into trying the champagne punch just so I could have a sip. ONE sip made me feel that "buzz coming on" feeling!!! I didn't even think at the time about the punch part and sugar in it that could have made me sick, oh well. I would suggest if you try it, DONT DRIVE until you know it is out of your system!

i didnt drink for almost a year and half out.
ONCE i was done looseing i have had a drink
for social ocasions.
JUST be careful of drinking and driveing one
drink seems to get into our system very fast
and i have heard any complain they got Dwi'S ANd
WEREN T aware we absorb differently.
I would try not to drink during ur honeymoon of looseing time
because its empty unneccessary calories that may cause stalls
and you dont want to replace a food addiction with a new addiction
of drinking...

I have had a 1/2 glass wine, a shot of seagrams and some pineapple rum (mixed with an orange/pineapple PROFECT bullet...gotta get my protein!!!) It has an immediate effect, and it's short lived.....it's almost gone as fast as it hits ya....like the other ladies said, DO NOT DRIVE...there are 4 patients in my surgeon's office with pending DWI's!
My doctor said after 3 months, I could have alcohol in moderation; however, I HATE to spend the calories on it....it's true, if you drank before, those days are LONG gone...no more summers by the pool with beer..and be careful of the sugar contents in drinks....it's killer on the intestines!

Well I didnt have a drink for about a year and a half after my surgery...i have had vodka mixed with crystal lite and enjoy it. It hits you quick and hard but the buzz dont last long so be careful ...i have had one to many on a couple of occasions...just during a party or social event. But just as i say with foods, moderation is key to everything....

| My doc says no alcohol period. I intend to follow his rules but was never much of a drinker.

I have had a few glasses of Chardonnay at my class reunion a couple of months ago. I am not much of a drinker and usually drank foo foo drinks before surgery. so I haver never been much of a wine drinker. but that is what my doc suggested. I didn't feel that it hit me any different than before surgery or that it lasted any less time. I do know that I did NOT have any kind of a hangover the next day and typically before wls wine made me feel like crap the next day,
