Default This is a doozy! I'm pregnant!

Ok, I am 10 weeks post op and I took a test on Monday and it immediately came up positive. I freaked out. My husband on the other hand is beaming! I took another one that night just to be sure....same thing....positive. With hesitation, I called my surgeon and told them about it. The first response was "oh no". I can't tell you how comforting that was. But, when she noticed how upset I was, she reassured me that it would be ok. This does happen.

I have two girls, 16 and 13 and my husband and I have been married for 3 1/2 years. We had tried to get pregnant in the first year, but couldn't. We are both only working with a half a set of pipes, if you know what I mean. We were also using protection after the surgery, so this is a huge suprise!

I'm having a hard time eating enough for myself. Most of the time I am forcing myself to eat because I am not hungry. I do not know how I am going to take care of myself and an unborn baby. There are so many emotions going through me right now it's unbearable. I am happy about the baby, I'm just really nervous. I want it to be healthy. I'm sure the doc will have suggestions at today's visit.

Wish me luck!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh my!!! I couldn't imagine the emotional rollarcoaster you're on at this moment! You CAN get thru this. It's just a little bump in the long road we're on. I think you are doing what you need to do at this point. I'm sure everything will be fine with the help of your Dr. But I bet you're going to have to force yourself to eat more now. But I BET you'll still lose. Isn't THAT a nice pregnancy!!!!

There is a lady that post here from time to time that got pregnant not that long after having this surgery. Lisa aka/friendly is a friend of hers. Things will be ok im sure. You more than likely will need special care from a OB Dr now. Congrats!

By protection, do you mean hormonal contarception-- pills or patches? Unfortunately, hormonal contraception doesn't work because the melting fat releases tons of estrogen that makes you extremely fertile despite the meds, and a lot of surgeons ask you to use other methods. If you were using IUD or other physical methods, then it's rare, but can happen.

You can have a safe pregnancy but you need all the help you can get from the pros. Be sure to keep in close touch with your surgeon, and choose an ob who is familiar with bypass patients. You will also need close supervision of a good nutritionist, as you need to keep your diet healthy for both yourself and your baby, and eat enough to sustain your baby, but not to make you gain any weight. You may have to fogoe losing any more weight right now, to protect your baby, and resume your weight loss after you give birth. After you've given birth, it may take you longer to get the desired weight off because of the time loss, but so long as you work your tool correctly, you should be able to make it.

MsVickie probably means Jolie/njmom who had a baby post op, but she was 6-7 months out when she became pregnant, so had aloready lost about 70-80 lbs and already in Onderland before her pregnancy. You are much earlier out than her, so you will need to chart your course accordingly.

Congratulations, may your journey go well. (((((HUGS)))))

I know of someone here at work who had the surgery who got pregnant afterwards. She was more like 6 months out but she did fine. And I have seen the baby and seh looks good too and she mangaged to do very well with her weight during and after the birth.
hang in there and Im sure its also of mental stress on you right now but take and do what your docs say and you will be ok. thinking of you.
